i have some questions cause i am gonna buy this watch. Are you satisfied with the lume of the watch? Do the lume gets any stronger when it is really dark? What is the power reserve of the lume?

I am pretty pleased with the dial.

Its does seem stronger when its darker, but I would guess that is because our eyes adjust to the dark.

I couldn't really tell you about the duration of the lume, never paid that much attention.

Thanks for the info and the pictures guys . Do you think that gmt master II with maxi dial has a decent lume cause i never saw maxi dial with lume. Actually i have seen but maxi dial lume shots but only from pictures. Which dial do you guys prefer? The maxi dial or the normal dial concernig the lume topic.

Of course there are other factors, but a basic rule is the larger the surface area the greater the lume.

Compare stardard to maxi...

The older pieces, sans WG surrounds are also capable of great lume because of the larger surface area,

This is the best the SD can do after being charged by my SB80 flash

Comparison lume between the SD and SMP, both charged by the flash as well...

Indeed Omega uses Superluminova and in my view, all other things being equal, Omega lume seems to bit brighter to me as well. I think the reason for this lies in the composition of the mixture used by Omega vs. Rolex.

As to how long the lumw lasts, I've found long enough to get through the night albiet at a reduced output. My experience has been dim light will make a luminova dial harder to read than the loss of charge in a darkened enviornment. In my view another reason why a larger surface area is better.

I know a guy that is owning a 116713 and he told me that his lume quite readable after 8 hours in total darkness because of its lume. If a lume can last at least 8 hours this means that it is reliable.

Yes, indeed! A larger and wider surface area makes a difference!

The hour hands in the old style where never an issue with the lum, but the thin amount of lum on the minute hand was. The maxi dial with the larger minute hand solves this issue.
