Well one week into wearing the new SS GMT II and scratches are already appearing on the clasp of the strap. As always it is the first ones that hurt but it did get me wondering how much do bracelets cost?

So you are planning on replacing a mere scratch on your clasp (which can easily be buffed off) with a brand new bracelet which will cost several hundred dollars?

Not quite sure how much a new GMT bracelet would cost with that fancy clasp and the "scratch me" center links, but an Oyster Lock Sub bracelet will set you back anywhere between $700-$800.

I'm guessing the new GMT replacements will be considerably more expensive.

They aren't cheap. I wouldn't buy one unless my current one was so badly screwed up, that it needed total replacement.

Hi Alex I was having a word with my local AD about this problem with it been highly polished on the centre links and brushed on the outside ones it will be very difficult to get them out. A new bracelet will set you back £500 for the new ss GMT II similar problem with the Daytona bracelet the only thing you can do is live with it then when its time for a service the rsc will then have it looking like new. I really like the watch myself but that is the one thing stopping me scratches on the bracelet would drive me mad I think Rolex will do a brushed metal one because everyone will have the same problem

I suppose you could always buy a brushed steel one at some point. Shame though because I think the polished links and clasp look fantastic. The TT straps but fare worse, gold being softer than steel and all that!

A clasp alone will cost you £500, for a whole bracelet you are looking closer to £900 (this is new GMT/Daytona, not older style bracelets)

BTW saw on ebay a YG Daytona bracelet including clasp for nearly 4k!!

Try some wenol, which will remove the fine scratches on the polished center links. I actually tried it myself on the side of one link on my GMT-II (the sides of the GMT bracelet links are polished, unlike the Sub links) and it came out great. There are lots of threads on TRF on how to remove scratches!

the dayton clasp and new Oyster claspare not totally the same - they look very similar when closed but the new GMT's are actually nicer IMO as they have a pivot action to them making it easier to open...

have you guys seen the bracelets on http://www.qualitytyme.net/, they are pretty nice and same as ther original except for not having rolex markings on them. I got one for my sub/no date and use that to keep the original looking good, just a thought

Take it to an AD, mine polished the center links back to a factory shine, and rebrushed the outer links to look original as well. A non AD didn't get it right two times in a row. My AD cost me about 125 dollars to make it look perfect(near perfect)
