You clearly don't appreciate the astronomical cost of futile end of life care.
I see it all the time. ALL the time. We're wasting BILLIONS and BILLIONS every year. A couple million dollars isn't even a drop in the bucket.

A few days later I went to the hospital's medical records department and looked at the charting done those two hours after I took Mom home. Tears of relief flowed as I read how he was given massive amounts of morphine and other drugs... given every 20 minutes or so... until his heart stopped beating. Thank goodness the doctors knew how to let him die a good death, in peace and with dignity.
Lisa it seems like yesterday. We all went through some tough times then. My mom went for 2 months before she passed away. Although she didn't suffer I wish she would not have had to go that long. You and the gang were a big help through those rough times.

Completely agree. It takes empathy, or direct experience, to recognize that unending suffering is not a social good (setting aside the economics of it) as compared to personal agency and dignity.

OP, "Judge not lest ye be judged." Since you brought up the R subject.

My birth was planned, why not my death? If I have a choice?

we are mortal

I have seen grandparents and friends die. Unfortunately it is inevitable. We will not know how the "Universe" works until we pass.

Apparently, the OP does.

I have in my will for my survivors to "pull the plug" after it's been medically determined there is no way I would live with much pain or always heavily drugged. I do not want to be kept alive by some machine. That is not living. So, yes I respect Dr. Kevorkian for helping those people.

RIP, doctor.

Why must some people feel that they know what is best for everyone else?

I hate the thought of a long, lingering, inevitable death.

I hope when my time comes - hopefully a LONG time from now - that I have the freedom to make my own choices in this matter.

I think that history will remember Dr. Kavorkian in a much kinder way than how he is portrayed now by those who pretend to know what is best for all of us without even knowing us.

Not a topic that has any need for being on this forum.
Open section or not!!

As for the OP, he was a returning trouble maker and is now removed from these boards.
He was only here to cause trouble, and it appears it succeeded.
