I am looking to add to my collection and have been going back and worth regarding the date/ non date model. Please let me know your perference, and what benefits their might be. I would really appreciate your opinion.

Well if you want something that will IMO become collectable in the near future get a 14060 Sub with the tritium dial. Both models are fine myself not a huge lover of the cyclops so I prefer the non date but try both on.

Serenty - First of all a BIG WELCOME to this board. I hope you enjoy hanging out with the crazy guys (and a couple or more great ladies) as much as I do.

Regarding the Sub - I went through the same dilemma a couple a years ago, and finally decided on the ND SS model. The reasons were:

1) It has the cleanest, most simple and classic dial of any Rolex IMO.

2) It is just a bit different, and not seen nearly as often as the Date Sub.

3) I see it as an endangered species, and therefore more likely to be collectible in the future. Rolex is moving more and more towards busy dials with high bling. The ND Sub will more than likely go out of production within the next 2-3 years.

4) I never get tired of wearing it and looking at it. It is perfectly simple and simply perfect.

All that being said, of course you must follow your own instincts and preferences. Please keep us up to date on your thoughts and/or decision.

Cheers, Larry.

Go in-between, the Sub date has the cyclopse, the sub no date has no date, the Seadweller has the date, but no cyclopse, and holds it's value.

On the other hand...

I like the date function on my Sub and I also like the classic iconic design, especially the cyclops feature, that screams Rolex. I am not concerned with collectability, etc. You are the one who is going to live with it. To each his own. Wait for the "perfect" one.

Welcome to TRF.

If you're adding to a collection, get the one LEAST like everything else you have.

or:

The ND Sub is a bargain by Rolex standards, and nobody.......absolutely nobody.... can dispute it's classic lines and look. It defines Rolex.

Besides, with the latest decision to change the non-dates dial, it is likely to hold value since it now fits into it's own "era".

Not really a lot more I can say. It just seems to be undervalued compared to its big brother the Sub Date. Never really understood why

The 14060M is an excellent watch and the only one left with lug holes.
It would get my vote.

Not bad...if it's in primo shape.

MSRP on the ND is $4525, you can get a brand new one on the grey market for ~$3850.

I have worn my 5513 sub since 1978 and never bothered me not having a date from that stand point, however I do like the look of the cyclops that is on my new DD. The day and date still are not that important to me.
