i have a little canon ixus pocket camera and even with this you can catch the small crown.
not as good as on the professional photos, but clearly visible.

What on a new Everose Daytona from a AD I would doubt it. With Rolex today like a colleague of mine Mike says, nothing today is written in stone with Rolex. And if watch is bought from a AD with a official receipt, cannot even see any point of straining your eyes to even look for it.

I think it shows up much better against the black dial back ground. White on white is bit harder to take.

Was at the mcdonalds drive thru today, :), and I actually saw it for the first time on my new Sub-C, at first I thought it was a smudge, upon closer inspection at the right angle, I was able to see it at 6 without any magnification. I have pretty good up close vision, my distance vision is horrible.

FYI the LEC (laser etched crystal) is not a guarantee of an authentic Rolex.

I appreciate the LEC spotting technique posted by ArcticMoose. After 3 unsuccessful days of trying on my new Datejust, this worked like a charm! My crown is just where it should be, at the 6 o'clock position.

agree with black face, i can spot it on my SD and DS under sunlight very easily, my wife's silver face took me forever to find it, wife just got a new pink face floral datejust and i have yet to spot it
on a side note, i can even the spot it on my DS under indoor lighting, is it because of the domed crystal? |

After some trial and error, here is the best shot I could get of the LEC on my SubC.

In some cases like watches with white dials the LEC is even harder to see due to the lack of contrast and that usually leads the person to believe that it doesn't have it, when infact it actually does.
Example : the white dial daytona . I went a whole month thinking mind didn't have it but due to some miracle and very special lighting and angles I was finally able to see it. |

I found on my GMT II. This means that the crown identifies an original from a fake?

Stupid AD. The etch is on all contemporary Rolexes not including the GV since the green hue makes the etch far too visible for Rolex Corp's comfort.
