You are right on there my friend. How could it be. I do have this feeling that I will also own an Explorer before all is said and done, maybe a 14060M as well just for old times sake (not that I was around for Rolex's old times).

Walked into work with the one on the right, walked out with the one on the left... Thouroughly confused my staff as to why one costs 53x the other. To the non-WIS they look the same albeit one has a more prestigious name.

So would you rather have 53 SKX007's or 1 Sub-C?

Got a relatively rare Citizen Eco-drive mid 90's and wore it alone for about 5 years until I picked up another Eco-drive both titanium with sapphire cystals and swapped them on and off for a few years. Back to Ironmen with a Suunto Vector thrown in there which was unsightly large.

This brings me to the around 2008. Lord I think I had about 100 or more watches since then with 2/3rds of which were G-Shocks or various Casio Pathfinder/Protrek models. 10-15 of the Casio's were of the MR-G line, which if you follow G-Shock, are pretty much cream of the crop multi-thousand dollar atomic, digital, analog, solar, DLC coated, pieces of hardened titanium. I picked up another 6-7 Eco-drives, all rare sought after models. I also got the Seiko bug for a bit and picked up the venerable Marinemaster 300 SBDX001, SBBN011 Darth Tuna, SBBN007 Tuna, the classic SKX007, and the crazy Seiko Discus Burger. I'm sure I missed a few but the moral of the story is I think I hit a wall when I saw the new 116610LN!!!!!!

I swung wildly back and forth between sell off most of my collection that I worked 2 years to hone down to many very desirable and rare models or keep most of them and pick up a used Omega Seamaster Professional. We're talking about at least a $5,000 price difference between the two so it's substantial (to me at least).

I literally wear about 5 of my current collection and just stare at the rest thinking to myself how wonderful they are for their own reasons. Not good enough any more. I decided to rid myself of the dead weight and go after my hearts desire. I'm getting a Rolex Sub come hell or high water (although hopefully I see neither).

Now my only dilemma is do I get a 14060M no-date, a 16610 date, a 16600 seadweller, or really go for the gusto with the 116610LN?!

I like the 14060m because it truly is a very timeless elegant sub with a very clean symmetric dial but I really would miss the date as I use it daily.

I like the 16610 date mostly because it's price is nice compared to the SubC but I am a big fan of the SubC bezel, maxi dial, and bracelet.

I like the seadweller because it's just a slightly beafier cousin to the Sub date and I'd say after all the 45mm watches I've been wearing going with a 40mm traditional Sub may shock me too much.

I am obsessed with the 116600LN for the reasons stated above and probably unlike most folks the maxi-case appeals to me slightly more then then traditional case although I think both are great.

Going low range with a 14060M or Sub date would allow me to keep a few rare G's I took a long time to find or an MR-G or two that I like to wear on rare occasions. If I didn't have them it wouldn't be the end of the world and like the Rolex would get a lions share of the wrist time shared with a couple of my Seiko's and one specific G-Shock the GW-5000.

To all the Rolex professionals what should I do?
Wow you have owned 100 watches and never a Rolex. I think I owned maybee 5 before I smartened up. Kind of reminds me of my brother growing up. My mom would give us both about 1000 bucks to split to go buy clothes for highschool. I would buy a 8-10 really nice shirts that would last all year and my brother would buy 25-30 junk shirts that looked horrible after he wore it only once and his wardrobe was depleted by winter break. Quality always squashes quantity everytime. I say go for any of the Rolex's you suggested. They are all built to last a lifetime.

Wow, just plain WOW, is all I have to say. This watch is unbelievable. It's extremely comfortable, fits under cuffs better then any other watch in my collection that I REALLY like. I have a few that fit easily but they are not watches I would necessarily go to first. It's just right in terms of weight, not too heavy but feels substantial enough to feel "valuable."

Now for the part that shocks me the most.... it's literally dead on after 3.5 days. I set it to atomic time.gov on Tuesday afternoon and it's now Friday evening and the difference between it and atomic time is imperceptible!!!! I knew it would be within a few seconds per 24 hours but literally dead on after nearly 77 hours, wow! I have worn it every second since getting and setting. It's "The One!"

My only slightly negative thing I've noticed is the lume isn't that remarkable with regard to it's brightness but on the other hand it easily makes it through the night. Woke up at 4AM this morning and the power was out but I could still easily see the blue lume on my wrist. The lume on that SKX007 up in a previous post is astonishingly brighter then the Rolex as after that picture was taken I walked out into the night with them to go home and the Seiko was noticeably brighter. Not even a contest. Now I don't recall the SKX007 lume lasting 6 hours so I can't say for sure which is more effective. The blue lume reminds me of a couple Citizen Promasters I had that had blue lume. I really like it but wish it was just a tad brighter.

This thing is great, I am so glad I went through with the great purge of my collection to afford this beautiful watch. I just checked and it's almost exactly dead on nearly 5 full days from when I last set it to atomic time. I mean it may be 1/4 second slow but it's really tough to even perceive a difference.

That is incredible! At this rate I could literally only have to reset it twice a year!

Truly unreal watch. I believe some had said to me that whatever was left in the collection after the sell off would probably not see the light of day for a very long time once the Sub-C came in and to them I say "you are 100% right."

I wore it today for a block party where I was playing with kids, jumping around in a giant bounce house with my 3 year old, and bathing and getting two children ready for bed. I am surprised I have this little fear of messing it up but it fits me so well and is low profile enough that I feel it's safe. I am officially a Rolex believer.

Congrats, the SubC would have been my recommendation to you, and it seems from your current feelings that it was the right way to go.

Enjoy

Congrats on the 116610.

You probably won´t wear any of the others very much, so it won´t matter if you only have a few left
