How Much Does It Cost To Have My Watch Regulated
my watch is off 40 seconds a day slow which is unacceptable according to the -4/+6 rule. Anyway everywhere I call they want to do a service on it, my watch just had service recently so it doesn't need service, the peope service just suck at regulating the time. Is it possible to get a shop to do regulating the time only without trying to convicing me to do a full service. What will the price for rregulating the watch can I expect. I am in Southern California area

Your question prompts many other questions. I noticed that you say the watch was serviced recently. Was this by a RSC? If so, they will stand behind their work for two years. There are probably several good watchmakers in So. Cal. who can do a simple regulation. 40 secs./day seems like maybe something more than being regulated. I would take it to the RSC in Beverly Hills and seek their advice and council. If it's more than a simple adjustment they will give you an estimate. You decide from there what to do.
Good luck! |

You live in So Cal....Take it to the Beverly Hills Rolex Service Center.. If they serviced it recently, they should regulate it for you for free.
I hear they have champagne on premises for your wait...if you don't like that, go across the street and have a latte or a frappucino while they do it. |

Is the watch under warranty? If not, how old is it? There is an RSC (Rolex Service Center) in Beverly Hills. If it is under warranty they will do it free, if not, they will likely want to do a full service depending on the age of the watch. I don't know any independents that do this sort of thing - I really think we could make a WIS wiki with all this info, good independent watchmakers and where to get genuine rolex parts.

The watch is 20 years old it has been serviced by an independent watchmaker. I'm thinking about taking it to the Rolex Service Center. Does anyone know how much it is for a DateJust service ?

If they do a full service it'll cost around $500. They'll give you an estimate before they begin the service.

A RSC service will run you about 400 to 500 bucks. This usually includes completely disassembling the watch, clean and oil, case and bracelet refurbishment, and replacement of "expendibles" such as gaskets, stem tube, scews, etc.....and re-assembly. When you get it back it should look and act exactly like a brand new watch.
If you need any other parts,- dial, crystal, case back, hands, new bracelet, movement parts, etc.; they will cost extra, and depending on the condition can double, or even triple that cost. It is unusual to require expensive parts on a well cared for piece and they will give you an estimate and breakdown of what they would like to do before proceeding. If you have non-Rolex parts on yours, they may refuse to do a service. |

I think with no rolex parts, they would change it first and then do the regulation. If one refuses to change, then Rolex won't perform the regulation.

i think the seals and gasket may be aftermarket on my watch but all parts are still original, the dial has custom diamond on an original dial. The band has been replaced to a brand new italian rolex jubilee band.
