Hi Rik - as a 'novice' to the restoration process....
Could you explain a little about the process and what was done? Thanks.... |

Well you first assess the overall condition of the movement and case then make a list of parts needed then tear down everything make another list of things you will need. The movement is then taken apart and precleaned while that is going on the case is taken apart brass wire wheeled to remove dirt and rust it then goes in the ultrasonic. Once the movement goes through the second cleaning the assembly starts new mainspring check end shake and functioning of the start and stop works properly oiling what needs to be oiled and greased. Then take a break once the movement is running go and do the detail of case and band first the satin on the lugs followed by the highpolish on the sides then back into the ultrasonic finish assembly of movement checking all funtions and timing. Now the fun part putting it all together reinserting pushers, crystal, gaskets, then movement. Repainting the numbers on the tachy ring bezel final microfiber cloth rub down and voila. Done. there's alot of little things that go with this kind of movement fine tune adjusting and so on but that's all part of the fun. Rikki
