What a fantastic watch to have in your collection. I think Padi has this version but keeps it locked away in the bank, shame really.
Did you recently acquire it or were you lucky/clever enough to pick it up years ago at a sensible price?

Thanks for the photo, 6265 Daytona with chrono certificates are pretty rare creatures. Great looking dial and condition.

I'm new here :)
I too have a 6265, steel, with black dials (and certificate),box etc (identitical to the photo)..I have had this since buying it new in 1984 in Germany. My question: why the hell are these so valuable now ?? Thanks Jack |

They are extremely desirable these days. Not so much when you purchased yours.

Valuable is easy - extremely sought after.
Desirable - not so easy. It's certainly not due to the craftsmanship of the watch and the movement. I have had a couple on my wrist and in the flesh and they really are quite modest. The movement is an adequate 17 jewel ETA (!?). The 16520 (Zenith) Daytona SS was the first one to get very popular, driven by the Italian market (I think). This then snowballed, with the supply ever increasingly failing to meet demand, causing higher and higher secondary prices. The older Daytonas become extremely desirable as a consequence and the prices have rocketed ever since. My mother was once into collecting Ty beanies. One beanie was very rare, yet originally cost £4. She paid £500 for it and sold it later for £95 when the market collapsed.

Thanks..Welshwatchman...I'm still blown away at the rise in value..considering I paid a relative pittance for it back in 84. I might trade it for a Porsche !! lol
