rolex second hand freezing

Hi all,

After a week of not wearing my rolex datejust (circa 1985), I've noticed that it's not keeping time. The second hand seems to stick at the same position (55 seconds) and remain locked up until I give it a bit of a tap.

Is this something that needs to be fixed by sending it to Rolex and getting it serviced? Or would this be a minor problem I could take to a reputable watch dealer?

i haven't had it serviced since i've owned it (for about a year). there don't seem to be any people in adelaide that'll touch them, so i'd have to send it off to melbourne or sydney.

when i lay it on its side, it seems to run fine =\

Sounds like the watch needs a full service as the movement will likely need to be disassembled in order to find the exact problem, and when a movement is disassembled, it needs to be cleaned and re-oiled.
