Ed - It's not an inside jike, just coffee lingo. A "regular" is 1 cream and 1 sugar - what I drink at Tim Horton's. A double double is 2 creams, and 2 sugars. A triple triple is 3 creams and 3 sugars, which is what John drinks (yuck!).

At home I drink coffe with just sugar, since my wife does not like cream, and I don't like milk in coffee. Also, we buy better coffe than is used at Tim's for home use.

And by the way, this is real coffe, not a fancy coffe like a latte or something like that (I can't recall Steve Martin's line in that movie on life in California, but that's not real coffe like Tim's is).

Thanks for the explanation, Al. I assume Tim's is a local Starbucks type operation? Although better, I hope.

Since I drink high test straight as it comes out of the pot, I'm not into the additive lingo.

Tim's akin to Starbucks? Noooooooooooo waaaaaaaaaay!

More like Krispy Kreme with more cake-like donuts (mmmm) and better coffee.

BTW, I only drink a triple-triple because it's extra-large. I found that when I asked for an XL double-double, the amount of cream and sugar in the larger cup made it taste more like a regular. So, I upped my game. It also answers a lot of questions about my hyper-activity, too.

John, have you ever tried just asking for a larger cup?

They actually have a size larger than XL, but with that much coffee in your system, you'll be bouncing off the ceiling 10 hours after drinking it, and spending the entire day in the men's room.

Guys, standards are dropping here. One post about Juicy Lucy followed immediately by one about cup sizes, and STILL no jokes?!

Tyler, don't tell me you like that fru fru double decaf triple skim mochalattechino garbage. C'mon pal, be a man.

And when your taste buds mature a bit more, you'll see why Starbucks rates at the bottom of the barrel for taste.

Hey Ed I like Starbucks. I just get coffee. No mocha this or latte that. Just coffee. I always ask for their Sumatra blend which is their strongest. I also drink all of my coffee black. No cream, milk or sugar. What don't you like about it? Just curious.

It's too bitter and tastes burnt. There's a small chain in So. Florida called Bernie's that makes really good coffee. Plus they sell some very interesting ones by the pound (beans or ground).

I'll pick up on this... Juicy Lucy's cup size isn't XL by a long shot... which is why I like her. Nothing to hang to her navel in 10 years.

Don't get me wrong, I like plain 'ole coffee too. Everything I get at Starbucks are espresso drinks which, when I get a espresso machine I'll start making them myself and stop blowin 3 bucks and over on a cup of coffee. My mom got a plain cup of coffe from Starbucks once and it was horrible. Way to strong for me. Tasted like they burnt it too. Although I don't know if you can burn coffee. I personally think the country club we are members at has very good coffee.

The trouble with Starbucks is the inconsistency. When we are back in England we never use them because the cappuccino is always too milky with not enough froth. Here in Saudi they make a nice cup as they do in Bahrain. When we are home we usually use Café Nero as we like their coffee more than Starbucks.

I just found this site with interesting comments. http://www.ihatestarbucks.com/bbs.php

This coffee tastes like mud. That's because it was fresh ground this morning

Poor, poor misguided and deluded (and diluted, pun intended ) souls. I can only comment on New York coffee, which I will refrain from, for personal reasons. I start my mornings with a cup from this machine. Either espresso or plain coffee, ‘caus I don’t like all that fancy-pansy other stuff that takes ages to prepare and doesn’t resemble the black gold anymore. I drink my coffee black.

Frans.
