Panerai Ferrari Rattrapante

bernardwatch is holding a 48hr sale:
A small number of Panerai for Ferrari Gran Turismo Rattrapante Chronographs are available to us for a very limited time at a very special price. This is a Ferrari split-second chronograph for the price of a plain chronograph. At $4995 for wire transfer, they are over 65% off of the retail price of $14,600.
Cheers

Still not worth it. The Ferrari watches in general are extremely poor sellers and hold their value abysmally. The obvious problem is one of ownership by association.

If a little kid, or even a younger adult, has a Ferrari poster on their wall or has a t-shirt or something, no one's going to tease the kid for not owning a Ferrari.

If, however, you spend fifteen grand on a watch that looks suspiciously like those of another brand (regardless of who makes it) you're going to get it with both barrels: "that looks like a Panerai ripoff" and "what? cann't afford a Ferrari?"

That is the problem with the watch.

Even at 60% off you'll take a bath of you don't like it and want to flip it later.

Trel, Myk - sorry, but that's incorrect.

These watches ARE Panerai's, after all. The Ferrari/Panerai contract has gone sour while the supply of these watches was abundant. But not endless. These aren't being produced anymore, keep that in mind. The initial problem was that they made TOO MANY. The production should have been much smaller. That way, supply-demand would have been in line.

But now, once these are sold out of the secondary closeout market, they're gone. Just like there are investment gurus, there are watch market gurus - and they all say that few of these should be held on to for a couple years. Naturally, it'll be a while before they sell for anywhere close to retail, but of you buy at 60% off list and sell 2 years later for 35% off list (assuming it is unchanged) when there are no BNIB ones on the market, you just made 63.5% on your money. Show me a stock that does that!

No offense Greg, but I don't see that happening with this watch.

None taken, Myk - but that's EXACTLY what happened to AP Millenary Maserati edition. Maybe not exactly apples to apples, but Panerai has figured out a way to fix 'duds', time and time again. I have faith in those boys!

Sadly for Bernard Watch, they are the ones who will be carrying out the warranty work when they break. Notice I didn't say "if they break". You will notice that most 214's you see for sale say "serviced" in the description, usually followed by "hasn't been worn since I got it back". I have first hand experience myself with this rattrapante. Don't be seduced.

If you like the look of the black hobnailed dialed versions of this watch, grab them while you can at these crazy prices. They are incredible buys. Avoid the complicated ones!

I never liked the Ferrarri Pams no matter how cheap they are. It's just not for me, unfortunately.

Mosco: You always beat anyone's price anyway... hahaha... I'm not surprised. Thumbs up for you my friend. :)
