Hi all

Just picked this up today

This has solely been bought for collection/investment purposes; it was bought for 2 main reasons:

1. I liked it (this was the most important reason) and would happily wear it.
2. I believe its value will increase significantly in 10-20 years given 1,948 were only made and is linked to the London Olympics.

I wont be wearing this one, I have 5 others to keep me occupied

This will be kept in the safe, I have every faith this will increase in value....just wait until the next London Olympics

But will any of us be alive? You have greater self-discipline than me, as I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to wear it.

I think it will take around 40+ years probably before comparative value reaches today's money, allowing for inflation etc.

Make a great gift for a college graduation - recipient would cash in just as they were to retire .

1948 does not seem like a lot of watches.

Was this a big seller at some point? I had never heard of it.

Yeah its pretty limited.

It only became available couple of days ago.

I am not really sure how quickly or slowly these will sell...I was able to get number 62 out of 1,948 without being on a waiting list.

Beautiful watch but terrible investment. Look at other 'ltd' Omegas like the last winter olympics one (white dial, red bezel) then look at the prices - they're currently about 50-60% less than the original retial values.

Just stick it on your wrist and get some enjoyment from it.

This is a unique watch it is based on the first ever seamaster made it also has 18k gold London Olympic medal.

This is not comparable to any other limited edition watch. The winter limited edition had nothing special about it, just a standard seamaster with red bezel and olympic rings on the dial.

This watch is special, just look at that dial - which Omega collector won't want it? The medal is on the case so makes it more desirable due to it's understated link to the Olympics.

You may be right, it may be a terrible investment but one will never be made again and in the long term there will always be someone willing to pay over the odds to obtain it.

£3,540 - a little expensive for an Omega but will hopefully be worth it!

This was supposed to be an investment but I am just blown away - wow! I think I'm in love with the piece!

The sales people were great and gave me a few extras free: a wooden watch box and a cleaning kit. Very pleased!
