Dating a vintage Omega

I read somewhere that if you send your vintage Omega to Bienne for a service they will return the watch with a report on date of build, sale date etc,is this true?if so, is it possible to get this info without sending the watch to Bienne,I have seen the Omega dates lists around but I beleive they could be out +/- a year or two,or are these date lists about as near as I'm likely to get to knowing the date of my watch? cheers

You can order a 1-page "Extract of the Archives" from Omega at http://www.omegawatches.com/spirit/h...f-the-archives

It costs 75 Swiss Francs.

What they do is simply look up what info they have on file based on the movement serial number. I recently ordered the Extract. Here's what it looks like:

If for some reason, they don't have any information on file (and I've heard of a few cases where it happens), then you're SOL...

Cheers great info there and pic too

Does the date from Bienne match the date on the date lists or are they different,I think the list states a watch with case number around 280000 is 1968?

Movement numbers starting 25 dates the movement to 1967, this movement would then be put in a watch produced in 1968.

Movements starting with 26 date to 1968.

Movement numbers and earliest production year (PDF) from Omega.

I've googled for c321 Speedmaster Extract of the Archive images. Not that many out there, but the following are the SN/ProductionDate/models I've found so far…

17.3M - 1960.09.07 - CK2998
17.7M - 1961.02.61 - CK2998
19.5M - 1963.02.14 - CK2998
24.9M - 1967.06.16 - 105.012
24.9M - 1967.09.06 - 105.003
25.0M - 1968.03.27 - 145.012 (mine)
25.0M - 1968.04.02 - 145.012
25.4M - 1967.11.22 - 105.003
26.5M - 1969.11.14 - 145.012

You can see that knowing the serial number alone only gets you into a ballpark. There's a 25.4M produced in '67 and a 25.0M produced in '68.

Karl-How did you obtain your extract? For reasons that I've never seen adequately explained, Omega will not provide extracts to US residents.

I'm originally from Ireland. A family member ordered it on my behalf, and I eventually picked it up when I was back there on vacation.
