I am sure this has been asked a million times. But can your local ad lubricate the crown threads to improve the screwing down of the crown. My new sub c is very smooth but it takes a lot of force to screw it down. I though a little lubricant would make it easier and increase the life of the threads.

Yes they can. I have had it done.

Try a search as there is a certain lube that you can purchase and use a toothpick to do it yourself...I just can't remember the name of the lube

i thought them triplock crowns were supposed to be harder to screw down compared to normal crowns or the twinlock because of the additional o-ring which can be seen when the crown is popped out?

The lube used is called Fomblin but its very seldom needed and you should not use any force to screw the crown down.All thats needed is just screw down to just finger tight,the crown does not have to be in contact with the case.If it does then you could have damaged the crown o/ring seal just screw it down till you get very slight resistance.

Yeah I feel there is an issue there unless you're trying to strongarm that bad boy through the case and out the other side!

Anyone know where you can buy thrombin. Is it even possible to wear out the threads on a sub. They look very beefy.

The tube and tube threads and the crown are just normal serviceable items that are often changes as part of routine service so dont worry about wear.

My sub used to do that but after a while, it became easier to screw in. It probably just need to be broken in.

So I shouldn't have dunked all my Rolexes in Bomblin? The kid at the hardware store sold me a five gallon can cheap because the factory accidentally labeled it "Asphalt Roofing Adhesive".

The best way to screw the crown down is:

1. Put your thumb on the top of the crown and turn counter clockwise until you feel it drop just a little, then turn clockwise, with your thumb still on the top of the crown until your tumb slips. This will prevent cross threading.
2. Grasp the side of the crown with your thumb and index finger and snug it down finger tight.

Try it!

Chomblin is a brand name.. It's white lithium grease and available almost anyplace that sells lube...
