SubC From Kirk Freeport in Grand Cayman
Hi all - this is my first post on this board. My family and I are currently vacationing in the Grand Cayman and we walked into Kirk Freeport to take a look at some watches. The Rolex SubC and DJII caught my eye right away. I was in love and had a difficult time removing them from my wrist.
The SubC was going for $7650 USD with zero discounts and the sales rep stated that it was Rolex policy not to discount the SubC. Is this a fact or bull from the sales rep? Do you guys think the price is reasonable or would I be able to get a better deal in Toronto or Montreal where I live. |

It's BS. You can get a better price here on TRF. I was actually just at Grand Cayman couple months ago and went to Kirk Freeport. They have a decent selection of other brands as well.

You could do better but 7650 is already a discount. A subc is list price 8000 usd

I don't recall seeing a bnib Sub C in the forums for under $7300 lately. So, with no tax, that's not a bad price, hopefully the customs guy is nice. :) they often are, if you're up front. Say it's an anniversary gift.

Not bad with no sales tax. I'd go for it.

I have been to Kirk Freeport on multiple occasions over the last several years. They typically have a great selection of Rolex watches with mediocre discounts. It has been my experience that they are usually 5% off retail here in the USA, plus the sales tax saving.
I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a Rolex there. I still did better on my WG sub here in the states than they offered at Kirk Freeport.

From what I understand you are allowed to bring in 1 new Rolex while wearing and should not have any issues.... I could be wrong..

SubC MSRP in Canada is $8400. Typical discount in the 20% range in TO brings this down to $6720, add 12% tax = $7526 CAD. If you are caught brining the Sub in to Canada you will pay duty on top of your $7650 USD. Better off to buy at home.

Absolutely not true for Canada Customs. If you are caught you will not only pay duty, but you will be flagged every time you cross the border. Not worth it.

Thanks for all your assistance! It's very tempting to pull the trigger when you have the watch on your wrist. The family and I are heading back to Georgetown tomorrow morning so hopefully I'll have the will to just keep walking and walking. Lol.

Not a great deal but not terrible either. I think it depends on how bad you want the watch "right now" and what level of time/effort you are willing to put into the purchase. You could certainly save more $$$, maybe a couple hundred bucks maybe more but it all depends on what its worth to you.
I will check this thread out again tomorrow, make sure if you get it you post some pics

MSRP was $8970, that was a 25% discount. I have a great relationship with my AD. |

Came back yesterday fron Georgetown empty handed. It was really tempting to go back and purchase the SubC but i think purchasing locally would make better sense. It took me a while to pry it off my wrist (my wife and kids were waiting impatiently and said I was impulse shopping). At least now I can take my time and purchase locally.
My current collection has been primarily Breitling ( jupitor Pilot, Super Avenger, SteelFish, Chronomat B01 LE) and Omega Planet Ocean 45. I can tell you that once I purchase the SubC, I'm afraid my other watches might collect some dust. I had to see it in person to acknowledge what a beautiful timepiece it truly is. I'll keep you posted when I obtain my first Rolex. Thanks again all for your help. |
