Just curious, How many of you specifically let your insurance company know the make, model and value of your time piece collection? As this is my first watch that's over $2k, I am of the opinion that I should just wear it versus calling the insurance company any getting it specifically added to the policy.

After all, I haven't left the house without it yet.

I do not have any of my watches associated to my homeowners policy. My watches and my wife's jewelery are all insured by Jewelers Mutual.

I have insured all my pieces, but it is up to the individual if they want to. It is nice to know they are covered if something were to happen. The premium is not that much.

Remember, you can lose the watch after you have left the house with it. It could get stolen or fall off and lost. Probably not likely, but who knows. If you think the risk is not worth the added cost of insuring your watch than don't worry about it. Just wear and enjoy.

I have the watch info including SN on file with my home insurance carrier. If it's stolen, I'm covered.

Mine are all insured as well as my wife's jewelery. We have a separate policy with our insurance company. We pay like $200 a year and it covers over $40,000 for theft or any loss.

It's not very expensive and well worth it to me for piece of mind.

Do a search as there are a TON of posts on the same subject

I have insurance on all of my watches and I provided them the model and serial number along with the receipt at time of purchase. This is for replacement if I have to file a claim for them.

Make sure your policy covers damage. Tile floors and a dropped Rolex almost always means a shattered crystal.

I, too, use Jewelers Mutual. I like having the coverage at a reasonable premium.

Whether you have insurance or contemplating insurance make sure you get coverage for all perils and re-evaluate the policy from time to time so that your replacement coverage is good enough for the ever increasing high end watch and jewellry market.

My wife set up my future 116713 with HB insurance here in Canada. It is 100% covered for anything, damage, lost or stolen. Came to $120 a year.

I pay over £2k a year to insure my watches. Most household insurance policy's won't touch them.

I gave my Insurance Company a list of my watches.
As my wife and I only wear one each at a time they have given us cover to 18k for any two watches that we wear - unspecified.

Lol. Jinder they are not just watches, they are my watches! I have a safe, alarm usual security measures at home and trust me that is cheap. Most UK insurance policy's have a £20k policy limit on specified single items, anymore the they wont cover. If any members are aware of a cheaper alternative please let me know.

I have mine covered with a Personal Articles Floater, an endorsement to my homeowners policy. Covers damage as well as loss. Most homeowners policies cover jewelry to a certain amount, something like $2000. Couple hundred a year, but of course a thief will take them all. Better safe than sorry.

I insured mine after almost loosing it while mowing my lawn. I was on my lawn tractor and looked at my watch to check the time. It's bracelet lost a pin and it was caught against my wrist by just the elastic of my hoodie. I've seen things I've mowed overwith the blades running. Mywatchwould have been chopped liver at worst and lost in the grass at best. Now I don't worry!

I added our 3 Subs to our house policy for about £30 a year, with specific model numbers and exact replacement values, accidental damage cover and applicable anywhere in the world.

It amazes me how much other people are paying. LV (Liverpool Victoria) are a really good insurance company, in my opinion. Hey, LV...lol!
