How many here have kids interested in vintage watch collecting?
Hi, just wondering how many here have your kids, both little and older, interested in vintage watch collecting and intend to direct them towards joining this wonderful forum in the years ahead, would be great to hear your thoughts.
Starting with me, I have my son who's 1 year old, so is surely a prospective candidate. A bit early to tell though if he would be interested in collecting watches:) but one things for sure this far, he does love cars and impersonates the craziest of car sounds. Here's 2 types from his collection that he keeps closely guarded from other kids, so he must be a collector at heart;):

Well, I don't have any kids but I am still a kid
The best way to get someone started to get the vintage watch bug is to spark a flame inside them, that gives them the want to collect. Give them something to start with, which will hopefully get them to be interested in the topic, like let them wear it, and admire the piece, and hopefully something will happen. If not keep all them to yourself |

My 15 year old son is interested, I bought him a $50 el-cheap-junko mechanical movement so we could take it apart and play with the pieces! I guess I started from the inside out perspective, start with horology and move to the brands and looks.
He also took apart a quartz - one word: boring

I have my step son Kyle the grand heir to the collection- other than that no kids. I take that back two French Bulldog pups who think they are human and kind of are but no fancy to watches!

My three girls - ages 11, 8 and 4 - all have Timex Indiglos, but they are usually lost under the beds... someday they may take a more serious interest. Just to be safe, I hope to have at least three nice watches in my possession long-term so they can be passed on - all the watches will be vintage by the time the girls are old enough to keep them.

I spoke to one of the finest vintage watch specialist recently who told me a 15 yr old brought in a Rolex 6542. I was happy to hear this. I am by means old (26), but I am happy that their are others younger also indulging in these fantastic pieces.

I'm documenting this Ken... I started off with vintage Omegas from the 50s/60s, which run around a couple hundred of dollars. Then I got sucked into the vintage Rolex world...

My eldest received a 14060 for his 18th Birthday this year - he also shares my Rolex passion...
Trouble is - my youngest two will also expect the same in a few years... I did'nt quite think that move through properly... |

My father got me in to Rolex. I don't have one, but I dream to own one. I started with quartz, now I'm into only automatics.
