OEM Alligator straps

Hey guys, sorry to keep posting threads with questions about straps.

Since I am a newer PAM owner, the strap search is on. Looking to purchase a brown OEM Alligator strap (tongue buckle) for my 000. Not sure if I should go with the brown or dark brown ... does anyone out there have both? ... any photos? I will have to order from my local AD so just trying to see a comparison before buying. Thanks, I appreciate it!

The one on the left and 2nd to the right are both black semimatt with ecru for reference.

Hi there...

I also had the same dilemma when I first went searching for OEM "brown" gators. From memory there are three maybe four shades of "brown" - plus you need to take notice of the sheen - whether its partially glossy or matt. Off the top of my head the names are: antique gold, antique brown and brown (don't quote me). The brown comes as original equipment on the 270. I got the antique brown. And the antique gold is the lightest shade.

You really need to see some hi-res pics or in person to understand the real color as the computer screen tends to distort the true color a little. Secondly, I've notice that they do darken, which was good advice given to me by the Panerai sales at the time.

I've seen all three after they've been worn a while and all look great. I'll try and find a pic for you.

OEM is Original Equipment by Manufacturer. In this case the strap is made by Panerai.

ABP is Atelier du Bracelet Parisien, a maker of FINE aftermarket straps. www.abp-paris.com/

for a 44mm luminor such as your 000 there are 5 oem brown croc straps.

1. jv nubuck gold, which is the lightest color
2. gold semimatt- also known as the honey brown, it is a light, orangish brown, oem strap from the 088. very unique color.
3. antique brown- darker brown strap, almost a mohagany in color, as it has reddish hues. oem strap from 176/177. i had this strapped to a 005 and it looked awesome.
4. dark brown- similar to the antique brown strap but darker. oem 351 strap. would probably appear black in low lighting. very nice strap.
5. bourdeaux brilliant- dont bother, this strap is hideous. its some sort of bright brown strap.

Appreciate the insight, thank you ... I'm cracking up about your comment on the bourdeaux strap. Going to give the antique brown a shot. Thanks again.

Simply perfect. Amazing how a strap can make such a significant difference.
