1st PAM. Second guessing myself.
Originally fell in love with the 90 but ended up going with the 104. I liked how clean and classic the 104 looked...plus it was $1300 less expensive. Don't get me wrong this is a beautify timepiece but I'm wishing I stepped up to the 90. It has a sportier look in my opinion and suits me better I think. I've only had it 4 days but since I've worn it and stupidly already sent in my registration so I don't think my AD will except it as a return. Has anyone else felt like this and will it go away? BTW I loved this forum and searched it a lot being making my purchase.

Welcome to TRF.
Don't know what your AD will be willing to do, but I think it is worth calling them and find out so you at least know for sure.

Just added a photo. Thought I did when I posted but a rookie mistake I guess. Dang it does look good. Maybe I need to give it a few more days.

That 104 is a great looking watch! All I can say after years of flipping watches is that you have to follow your heart and get the one that you know will make you happy.

The 90 is really nice, but a bit busy for a Panerai. The 104 is the perfect mix of movement, case and dial. I think you chose well!

for me the 104 looks much better than the 90, much cleaner and closer to panerai's "core" - its a keeper

well, unless the AD would give you full credit (doubtful at this point?), doesn't hurt to keep the 104 a bit and see. quite often, it seems, people get a little buyer's remorse after such a large luxury purchase, so, just hang in there and see where it takes you.
IMHO, the 104 is the way to go....much cleaner dial, no power reserve on the dial. and you can definitely "sport up" the 104 with the right strap. good luck. ![]() |

I also had buyers remorse when I first got my zero. Now, I have absolutely no regrets. Between the two I prefer the 104. And if you really must sell it now, go right ahead. I don't think you will lose much financially. But you really should sell it earlier whilst it is in pristine condition if you must. Or maybe give your self sometime but make sure you don't get a single scratch on it whilst you ponder.

After reading your post and reading into what you wrote, it does seem as if you would be leaning toward getting the 090. I would suggest you try and sell it. If you are not quite satisfied and if you are thinking that the difference in cost is minimal and an amount that you are willing to spend, then I would get it. Additionally, if you like the fit and also like the look of the additional Power Reserve hand, then all the more reason to get the one that you will make you happy.
One thing i have found on TRF, that there are so many different models of different brands of watches, at all different price points. Not everyone likes the same thing, so get what YOU want and what you will enjoy on your wrist. |

If AD does not let you trade up for a 90, get a few nice brown straps for it, and you'll be happy.

I had buyer's remorse too -- I took back a 312 after less than a week and got the 233 which cost significantly more becuase it sang to me like the 312 did not and I have ZERO regrets.
Buying a PAM, like any other high-end watch, is an emotional purchase and IMO you have got to go with the one that sings to you the loudest. Otherwise, you will never stop thinking about it. Hopefully your AD will help, but once you have worn it, most will not. GLW your decision. |

Update. The AD said since I wore it was now mine and there was little she could do. She also did not have a 90 in stock. I posted my 104 on Craigslist and had two buyers for it within hours. One wanted to send me the payment though paypal right away but something just didn't feel right. I have never sold anything of this value using paypal as payment and I felt I was somehow going to get burned.
Anyway I found a 90 within an hours drive and headed over. While I still love the 90 I think the 104 will be staying with me. In a side by side comparison I appreciated the clean and classic face of the 104 even more and drove off without the 90. I figure I can always add another PAM and probably will as I seem to have the bug and like several models. I find the 00 to be very interesting and wish I knew about the brand back in 2009 as I would have jumped on a 028 without a second thought. Love it. A Rolex Sub Date has been on my wrist daily for the past 8 years. I just send it off for it's very first service since purchasing it as it's probably time and I have finally have a worthy piece to share it's spot. Now I have to decide if the 104 will accompany me to Belize next month for a dive trip. The Rolex has been on every dive I have ever made and it may be time to start a new tradition. Not sure it's really a great choice for diving as it has no bezel but really my dive computer gives me all the info I need. Thank you all for your responses as they helped me sort though my thoughts. Love the forum. |

heres my 104 with my favorite OEM brown strap.
![]() like you I questioned my purchase quite a bit afterwards. when I bought it I did not know that much about panerai. The more I learned, the more models I saw, I felt I had chosen wrong. The cyclops is kinda annoying - wish I'd known about the 312. It's pretty top heavy - wish I'd gone titanium. That 233 sure is amazing... and then the radiomir started to appeal more and more...that 8 days sure would be nice. anyways, it took a little while but I came to terms with the 104 and decided it's a great watch that I'll keep. |
