Thanks again for all the good wishes. Right after the incident I was in a Charles Bronson vigilante mood, but I am calming down slowly but surely.

The worst part is that I feel that I should have defended my parents more, I tried to resist but they beat me and then with two 9mm's in my face I just complied with them, I felt so helpless...not pleasant at all.

I have two sons still living there with my ex-wife. Luckly she is British, so we will appply for British passports for them and get them to a safer place.

My parents and sister's safety remains a constant worry though

I got chills reading that. Thank god, everyone is alright, physically, but not mentally. Your lucky that your Daytona wasn't stolen!

Sorry to read about your ordeal ,
I was born ( Franschhoek) and raised in SA and spent time in most of the big cities there till the mid 1980. Last time I went back (1989) we were car jacked at the entrance of a private hospital . Many of my friends have since left too and those that stayed all live bunkered up in private residences with 24h armed guards . Mind you Zimbabwe or Rhodesia as we used to call it , isn't much better .

I'm very sorry to hear of your misfortune; I'm glad you and your family made it though that ordeal with your lives.

I always wanted to see South Africa. I thought it would be a somewhat developed area where I could easily see the wilds of Africa. What a shame.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Having a 9mm pointed at your face is something i cant imagine, must have been very traumatic for you and for your parents. But still I'm glad that nobody got hurt badly and the lucky daytona that escape unscathed.

So traumatic just to read. Imagine what a hell you all must have gone through. My deepest sympathies.

Glad to hear you and your family are ok, this is obviously the most important thing. To be fair, this can and does happen everywhere. Even here in Canada my parents own a small restaurant which has been held up at gun point more than once in the last few years. Tragic that bottom feeding lowlifes exist out there, but, they do unfortunately.

Glad you and your family are ok. That's all that matters, material items can be replaced. As per the feeling of defending your family ... I guess it is quite normal, but it does not seem there was much else you could have done and if you tried the outcome would not have been as good as it was (i.e. all safe).

I've had a gun held to my head before... don't worry about it, there was nothing you could do. My condolences.

Glad you and your loved ones are SAFE.

We practice vigelence at all times no matter where we live or travel. I like to think it's not over-done... my wife sometimes gives me a hard time for always checking locks/alarms/doorways, etc.... it comes from growing up in bad areas and having bad things happen to you and your family as a child.

Take care out there no matter where you dwell.

Everyone surviving the ordeal is an ultimate victory. Anything else you might have tried could have resulted in death for one or all.
