I have been using iOS 5 since June on my iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
Works like a charm.

I did a sync a few days ago .... Does it ask if you want to load the 5 beta?... I don't remember seeing it as an option

It is only for those on the developer programme.

I was in the Apple store in Charleston SC and they thought I would soon be able to to do software updates sans computer... Now I know why...
Now if I can mirror my iPhone screen on my TV I won't need an iPad

Well you can sort of do this using Airplay however you need an Apple TV for it!

e.g. I can film a video or take pics with my iPhone camera, press the airplay button and it mirrors / plays back on my 52" LCD TV without any wires or syncing - all done over wifi but needs the Apple TV! Its pretty cool, I see games are starting to do this (Racing game on iPad) where you use the iPad as a steering wheel and play the game on TV like a console (in fact I think the screen on the iPad becomes the map of the racing circuit)

Apple are def heading this way but typically they do things slowly

I'm ready to ditch T-Mobile and my two year old Blackberry for an iPhone!

I've just been offered the Iphone 4 free with a 24 month, £20 a month tariff.

Seemed really inexpensive but it makes sense if they're clearing the stock for another new version.

But you still can't display web pages right?

I don't think so at the moment, but after the next upgrade to iOS5, I am under the impression that one can in conjunction with Apple TV.

Scroll down to air play mirroring. (It looks like an iPad 2 feature rather than an iPhone feature though)

I might. If it doesn't have LTE, I might pass though. The iPhone 4 still works fine for me. There needs to be something big, not just a new processor.

Has a LTE network been fully deployed in your part of the world?

Verizon has one here in AZ and I have heard that it is pretty sweet. Of course, once a lot of people get on it, speeds will no doubt slow some.

Smart buy is just pay $599 for unlocked iPhone 5 and choose better carriers IMHO
TMO is better than ATT? Not in the US... Smaller footprint, slower data

I will definitely upgrade. I currently have an iPhone 3GS, and I qualified for an upgrade in August, so...

is everyone convinced it is actually going to be a new iphone? i still think there is a 50/50 possibility that this will just be an iOS 5 announcement with an iphone 4GS type phone, plus a really cheap iphone and availability on sprint + tmobile. only one more day of waiting. BTW i have an iphone 4 and don't plan on upgrading until my plan allows it for cheap (more than a year)
