Could you be thinking about the 'Date' model or 'Airking' model? Both of these are 34mm, though the 'Date' obviously has a date feature.
The Datejust is 36mm. |

In the Rolex 'modern era' (non bubbleback models) you have the ladies size watches...Lady's Datejust at 26mm, Lady's Date and Lady's Oyster (non date) at I think 24mm. In mid size, you've got Datejust and Oyster Perpetual at 31mm. In Oyster Perpetual, Air King and Date, you're at 34mm, and then the rest of the Datejust line at 36mm along with the Day-Date at 36mm.
The recent makeovers with cases have the watch at the same size, but optically looking larger because of the lug configuration. People tend to call the mid size Rolex's 'Boy size'. People also tend to call the 34mm, mid size. I've also seen the 34mm models referred to as 3/4 size. Many members on this forum who wear the 40mm models often pooh-pooh anything smaller than 40mm, sparking lively debates over wrist size and the appropriate watch and the removal of links to fit. I hope this helps. |

According to the Rolex catalogue, they have classified the 31 mm as their mid-size.
The DATE is 34 mm and the DJ 36 mm. DD is also 36 mm. JJ
