What do you guys think.

Okay so I have decided after going to my AD to purchase the DJii 2tone with the slate dial. Its 10,800 now but my AD who is one of the smartest people I have met in terms of watches (got to tour Rolex,PP and AP factories you guys would love him.He only works at mayors AD since if you work there for a year, you get a 50% discount on one Rolex. For him its the DDii Platty)Anyways...He told me he is 100% certain Rolex is raising their prices sometime this month by 4%. My question being do you think it would be more smart to get this watch for around 9700 wholesale with original 2 year warrantee or get it from my AD which comes with an additional 3 year warrantee even though the price will be around 11400 by that time.

I personally wouldn't worry about the extra warranty, you could pay for a full service if it should need one, and still save quite a lot of money

Get it as cheap as possible. $11400 - $9700 = $1700 extra for an extra year warranty is insane!

thanks guys. Its very misleading since they say additional 3 year warantee but it starts once you leave the store. They imply at most AD's that your going to have a 5 year warrantee if you buy from them.

Very, very few have toured the Rolex factory. And those were very restricted tours.

so... is he just an AD or an AD friend?

as for the price increase - there will always be a price increase.

if you want a Rolex, get it as soon as possible, and as cheaply as possible. (you may want to find out what the additional AD warranty covers - in most cases, it'd be a some sort of a "limited" warranty, as oppose to the Rolex warranty)

He's an AD friend he talked to me for 3 hours showed me all of the pictures of him at Patek factory. ( the very few places where you were allowed to take pictures) I have a video of one of the watchmakers at the factory working on some 1.4 million $ gran complication I cant remember the name. He says its absolutely by far the best watch brand. The workers have no deadlines so they are never stressed out. They are obviously a family owned company they are only interested in making 100% perfect watches. They will never change their style of their watches like Rolex does to adjust to the new worlds trends. PP willonly hire older watchmakers for their staff who are very conservative and have no intentions on changing Patek as younger watch makers tend to do. The new PP nautilus takes 27 hours just to finish the brushing on the Bezel.( All hand brushed) The inner rehaut takes 20 hours to polish by HAND using I think a split in half closepin.(yes the thing to hang laundry with) wrapped with some type of polishing material. Told me one of the watch makers after spending 7 hours straight on a pocket watch took the whole thing apart since the cover of the watch which seemed to open (perfectly) wasn't quite perfect. They have what I was described to as giant walls with draws that have watch parts cases movements etc from the 1870's in perfect condition so they can fix any PP model. I can go on all day, You wouldnt believe what I heard and saw about Rolex.

Most people never need their warranty. Do what makes you the most comfortable.

However do get the watch if you can, it's an outstanding watch.
