The same way that any other watchmaker would demagnitize a watch.

Well today its a very simple task to demagnetise any watch but IMHO getting a watch magnetised in normal every day wear, very seldom happens. And many say a watch is magnetised but in reality all the watch needed is regulation being magnetised sometimes is now a cop out for regulation.First signs of watch becoming magnetised in general will speed up not by just a couple of seconds. And could run very very erratic or stop completely and refuse to start even after a full wind.

Living on edge:
But really, any SS watch is pretty damn safe. I took this pic a while back after some guy on here recommended not ever letting a Rolex near a sound system or computer case. If a computer was magnetising a watch, I'd hate to see what it would do to a hard drive =\

A little off topic, but I had a brand-new-in-the-box JLC that was running somewhere between 2-3 hours fast, per day. I immediately sent it back, and got a call from the sales manager that it was magnetized in shipping. They've demag'd it for me, and I'm waiting for it to go through their testing system so I can get it back.
That's the fastest I've ever seen a mechanical watch run. |
