Icon8 it happened to my SD!

I wear my watch every day at work. I am very careful but I knew sooner or later the day would come. And that day was today, I banged my SD against a rail at work. Now there is what appears to be a hairline crack on the glass right above the 11 o'clock marker. It appears superficial and in the shape of halve a circle. Should I have it pressure tested at a Rolex AD? And how much will this cost? I have heard that the glass will cost me around $500. The crack is not noticeable unless you look very close. Any advice would be great guys. Thank you for your time!

I don't think it matters as long as it is not leaking.
I would not worry about it.
$500 for crystal is a little high.

I doubt the AD will charge you to pressure test it if you bought it from them.

If there is a hairline crack wouldn't it eventually get worst with temperature fluctuations and getting wet/dry just like what will happen on a car windscreen if you get a decent crack in it. Its different its its a chip though.

I called RSC San Francisco to get a quote on replacing my SD crystal as well(scratch) and they quoted me $240 for glass only. Said on a good day, they can get it done right away if you go in to RSC. If there is a crack, as opposed to scratch, I'd get it done right away.

A crystal is less than $500. Get it fixed. They won't pressure test a watch with a busted crustal and you would be stupid to try.

I think only RSC could pressure test your SD.

I'd get it fixed since seal integrity might have been compromised already even if it is small. No sense in having an SD wrecked bec of a $500 fix.

Quite true but if tested to over 200M and most high street watchmakers could do that.If it passes that test watch will be fine for scuba and all normal water activities. And its quite unusual for sapphire to crack perhaps its just a scratch it chips around the edges and can shatter if you hit it Hard enough.

we need a pic of the damage.

If it's a crack, and even the slightest chance of water damage, I would have the glass replaced ASAP.

No fun with a SD that can't swim.

Best to get fixed, before you risk any other potential problems.

thanks for all your posts, I will try to post a pic as soon as I can. But it is quite difficult to take a pic with all that reflection on the crystal, evern if I try different light settings and angles. thanks again

Just a thought.....if you do not swim or dive with the watch why not wait till you need to get it serviced and then have the crystal replaced!!!
