GMT-Master as a compass
Have you already tried to use the GMT-Master (not the GMT-Master II) as a compass ?
12 hour hand facing the sun, 24 hour hand indicating the north (in the northern hemisphere, out of the DST part of the year). Is it quite accurate ? |

Welcome!
I have tried it before and it's one of those features that not everyone knows about but can become pretty handy. I love it!!! The best part is that it is pretty accurate!

It doesn't have to be the GMT Master, you can use any analog watch as a rough compass!

How do you point North without a 24H GMT hand?

The line between the hour hand (facing the sun) and the 12 o'clock position is pointing South if you are in the Northern Hemisphere, North if you are in the Southern Hemisphere ?
Is that it ? I love this forum ! |

Is there a visual or diagram to show that?

This is one of the reasons my Expy 2 is my backcountry watch. It's good to always have a makeshift compass.

Also, you can determine sunrise/sunset in your location using any analog watch set to the correct time.
