Tudor Big Block Question

What do you think, good deal, I know nothing about these but love the look of the watch. It was listed last week for $4,500, now $4,000. Maybe buy it for $3,500 w/cash ??

I would certainly want better, upclose pics. If it has a black outline around the date window it might be an early Big Block. If so, it would also have hour markers that are beveled on the top and bottom ends.
The price is right depending on proper condition and service history. I'd try to grab it for $3500.00 if you have to add service cost.

I was hoping you would weigh in as I have seen many of your posts on this topic and you seem like our resident expert.

I did find a rather lenghty post that talked about the traits of the early big blocks...ie...black border around date box and beveled markers. I e-mailed the owner and he confirmed that it did indead have the black box around the date box and "slanted" markers as he put it. I think he told me he it was from 1988/1989-

I have not seen it yet in person as I like to do my homework and then show up with cash and a price in mind.

Lastly, this appears to be the rotating bezel watch. Would this model #79170 be the most desirable of the three models?

I love a buyer that does their proper due diligence BEFORE the sale!!!!!! Good for you.
As a frequent traveler and dealing w/ work associates around the globe, I find the rotating bezel providing a second timezone a must. Plus always nice to have an added simple timer. So it's certainly the most desirable to me. I've read, but cannot confirm, that the rotating bezel references [79170] were made in smaller numbers than the 79160 [black tacky bezel] and 79180 [metal engraved tacky bezel].

The buyer lives a few miles from me, times are really, really hard here in Arizona, I see tons of watches on CL for sale. 2 year old Sub last night got posted and sold before I contacted tha owner in like 3 hours. $5,000-

We have two really nice pawn shops in town and I bet one has 50-75 Rolex's in their case. Daytona's, DayDates, Subs, GMT's you name it.
