Any idea where to get a band

to put on this one. Maybe someone can tell me the model number. I have had this thing for 30 years and the paperwork is LONG gone....This is the one I want to send off and get refurbished to give to my son. about 9 years ago when I had it serviced I was told no longer could I get a replacement band. Surely there are even good aftermarket bands available?

I'm sure someone else will chime in... I just wanted to say that's a great looking watch you have there!

The originals are no longer being made according to the Rolex dealer, so I am obliged to go with an aftermarket...was wondering whom to go to as I am CLUELESS when it comes to this.....The old band still works fine and latches fine.....its just that its the original and has 30 years of hard wear! I have to admit.....this is one tough old watch...

Ray, like I said, keep an eye peeled on eBay. Many decent bracelets out there that have probably seen much less use. You never know, but it doesn't hurt to save a search for a 19mm band and have it e-mailed to you daily. If you are patient, it'll come!

It looks in awesome shape! I would give the RSC a call, see if they would still service the movement. They should also be able to polish it up to looking new.

I would contact the Dallas RSC, they are well known for their incredible stock of older Rolex parts. I have a friend who sent an older datejust to Dallas and they had parts for his watch. It could be well worth your time, good luck to you.

If that does not work there are many watch smiths who rebuild bands that could work as well.

30 years puts it circa 1977? I'll bet Rolex will still service the watch and they will have the correct replacement bracelet.--Not the orginal, but the current service one. I would remove the old and consider a re-hab down the road.

I have had it service twice since I owned it each time replacing the crystal. Now that I have my new datejust, I want to refurbish this one and give it to my son for graduation.
I think this ol girl will last till I croak, and then he gets my datejust....

;)

There are some excellent aftermarket bracelet makers out there..

Try Milano, they make a top quality Italian bracelet..

Hadley Roma makes some cheaper bracelets....

Try The Watch Prince....

Yep! Replacing the acryllic crystal is part of the service. Over time acryllic can develop stress cracks allowing moisture to enter.

Looks like a proper refinishing would bring it up to par without buying another one. The Air King Date is a pretty rare bird. I'd avoid modifying it if possible

I just took in a 40 year old GMT Pepsi to the San Francisco RSC and they are servicing it.
