datewheel replacement for datejust
Hey, I just recently purchased a Oyster Datejust whitegold and it came with some wierd aftermarket datewheel and I want to replace it...I found a site with a bunch of replacement wheels, just wondering which of the wheels would fit my datejust
Link to site : http://www.ofrei.com/page818.html And if anyone has a reccomendation on a place to find them cheaper thatd be cool but 40 bucks is hard to beat :) |

You ought to send it to a RSC and let them service it. While that is happening, they can give you an authentic Rolex datewheel.

Not sure what you mean not heard of a aftermarket datewheel fitted before. What makes you think yours is a aftermarket one.And yes the generic ones would fit but doubt if then Rolex would service your watch.

Well after much deliberation in another thread I found out that the jeweler which the watch was purchased from recieved the watch via eBay...He failed to disclose this information to me at the time of purchase so when I put my DJ side by side with my fathers the font looks slightly different...At first I thought I may have been jipped and sold a very high quality replica, but when I brought it back to the jeweler he opened the caseback and showed me that the SN between the lugs matched the papers, along with the engraved coronet at 6'....My thought is that the seller on eBay overhauled the watch and put an aftermarket datewheel in....So I desperatly want to get it replaced because it just looks a little off when looking at the cyclops...Any other suggestions?
I found this site http://www.ofrei.com/page818.html but its also aftermarket not genuine...I want that to be my last resort |

Did you have him remove the case back? The SN's matching the papers is no assurance that it is genuine...

Yes he removed the caseback matches the SN to papers, verified that it was genuine rolex movement, and cleaned the movement...

David,
I don't think you've convinced all of us here that there is anyting wrong with your date wheel. The font on Rolex watches has varied quite a bit from time to time and comparing one to another of a different series may not give you an accurate answer. In any event, any good watchmaker with a Rolex account can replace it for you if necessary. |

Heh I was convinced that there was something wrong from a previous thread and people saying that it looks off...It never occurred to me until a few people pointed it, and when they did I happened to agree with them. Solely for that reason I had taken my watch back to the jeweler were it was purchased to authenticate it because it did look a bit 'off' when compared side by side with other datejusts...
Thanks for the info, as always its much appreciated |

Also had another question about my movado...I got it for my barmitzvah when I was 13 and until yesterday it was hidden away locked in the safe for about a dozen years or so..I just unwrapped it and took it out of the box took the plastic wrapping off the band. I looked the watch up online and it seems to be a sports model WOMEN's watch..Just wondering if they make the same model for mens...When I was 13 I had a very skinny wrist (and still do) so im thinking my uncle purchased it for that exact reason...Anyone have an idea about this one?

David, you got a PM!
I think I found the "black-blue" dial you asked about: "Blueface" has a Day-Date with that dial, I believe:

SD, what kind of band is this?
I love that look next watch after my daytona I want that band looks thinner than the band on my DJ and it would look good cause I have a very skinny wrist =) OH, and I forgot to mention the AD online I ordered my daytona from said they cant get a 2 tone for me and I was very very upset so I had to settle for a SS with white face...Whatever, saves me a couple bucks and I still get a rare watch =) |

That was a goodun! "SD", is that me? Anyway, I'm Bo That bracelet looks like the special "Oyster" (DRESS-VERSION!!) bracelet that goes on the Datejust Ref. 81209 (bracelet ref. 72849), availible in WG only. In the pricelist it is decribed as an "Oyster bracelet with concealed clasp." Page 49 in the current Rolex catalogue. But I must add that I cannot see on that picture you provide whether it is the "real thing" or not.
