Why the heck did Rolex make so many spoons?

I am seeing these Rolex spoons everywhere on ebay and seems like no big deal. Plenty and cheap and no one goes WOW over them.

Anyone has any idea why so many Rolex spoons but so few other memorabilia?

Maybe the spoon represents how they reach into your wallet and take the $$$ out???

Not quite sure.

But Bucherer sells them (pack of 3 or 5... Cant remember) and sometimes they give vouchers to the tourists to claim a spoon while visiting their stores in Switzerland.

I have a couple of Lucern an Zurich spoons me thinks.

Ok. but why so many? The are everywhere and so cheap too that they do not appear worthy of owning -- in other words, no big deal.

Look at this guy -- he has a clever way to use the spoons:

Maybe not to you but once you've collected the complete series it is, (at least for me).

Oh, thanks for letting me know that they're useless.

It's like everything else, isn't. If you are not into it or not understanding the value of it, then it is not a big deal.

I don't fancy the Bucherer Rolex spoons myself, but I respet those who collects and trades them. At least the spoons keeps them preoccupied for a little while

Never noticed the spoons. I'm more interested in the watches themselves vs. the souvenirs that flash the Rolex name.

Well with some today paying silly money for plastic bezel protectors and the rest of the plastic Rolex stuff,I don't collect any of the plastic stuff just watches myself. But if I did collect some Rolex stuff then I would sooner pay for a spoon that pay for plastic bezel protector tat etc.

I don't really care whether the spoons are common or not - I just thought they were cool. Then again, I like all kinds of dishes; pottery, flatware, restaurant ware, railroad china... the two Rolex spoons I have are displayed with some of my vintage restaurant demitasse cups and saucers.

Very nice collection! I think I am seeing a Union Pacific 1930's Winged Streamliner (second shelf, #4), and what looks like a Santa Fe Railroad ATSF Mimbreno (second shelf, #2).......but I cannot make out what the first one on the second shelf is....
