Home made strap this evening

So I bought my first Panerai Pam 210 last week and have been ordering new straps ever since. They are not cheap which got me thinking....

Well today I figured I would try to make my own. I'm a big DIY guy and figured it can't be that hard.(it' hard but not impossible).

Here are some pics of the first one I made. It took me about 2 hours. I made a few mistakes but I'm pretty happy with it for a prototype.I I am going to take a stab at another one tomorrow and then one for my Submariner! I know I can improve but it was a lot of fun to make it. My wife thought it would look horrible and told me I was wasting my time! Ha!

I started with an old belt that was a size 32 ( It no longer fits me ).

I used a cardboard template from my stock bracelet, an exact o knife, a blow torch for branding, needle/thread, gorilla glue and patience.

Flame away!

Congratulations.
Now you too can wonder why they charge so much for OEM straps!

Now you know why there are so many aftermarket strap makers...
some good quality, some, well. It seems generally you get what you pay for, but I digress.

Great first up effort and suits the Rad perfectly.

Cheers
Richard

Matt,

I have seen your name on TRF before and am surprised by two things 1) this is your first attempt at strap making, impressive. 2) this is your first PAM; Congrats!

So what made you want to add a PAM to your collection?

I started reading about them and got the bug. I love having to wind it and I love all the options. They are unique and have a look all their own!
