Question regarding Tourneau
A friend of mine has expressed a lot of interest in my Rolex and is considering buying one for himself.
I had mentioned to him that I had gotten mine here, used, for a very good price from a reputable seller. While he liked the idea of getting one used, he is a little old school and skeptical about purchasing online. He's is more of the brick and mortar type who'd wants to see in person, try on, etc... So I suggested to him that he can check out stores like Tourneau, whom carries a large selection of used watches. So my question is, if he were to buy a used watch from Tourneau, I'm assuming they check and make sure everything is 100% legit, original parts, box/papers etc..? Is there anything he should know before purchasing from there, other than he may pay a little extra? Thanks in advance. |

Yes they'll check it out and make sure it's legit. They will probably also service it and give him a warranty. Not sure for how long, My AD offers a one year warranty on pre-owned watches. This is a store and not a manufactures warranty.
More than likely he will not get the box and papers with a pre-owned watch from Tourneau. This something they just don't mess with.

Tourneau will guarantte the authenticity of their pre owned watches, and gives a one year Tourneau warranty. They will not include any paperwork or original boxes, but will give you a Tourneau box. The negatives are: they have few Rolex sport models and when they do get one in, they charge way over what you can buy it here on the Forum. They tend to have older models, and most of them are Datejusts. The positive is that you know you are buying an authentic watch.
For non Rolex watches, the options are greater. Often they will take new stock that hasn't sold and heavily discount them in the pre owned case. Even if new, you will not get the manufacturer's warranty, but one from Tourneau.

Tourneau
![]() You should broker the deal for him and use TRF. Just my opinion.

I would not recommend Tourneau, I don't like the way they do business and their prices aren't great. Buy from here or NYC is full of independent watch shops and Jewelers, I would do some research and some asking around and find one that won't gouge your friend, Tourneau will gouge him.

You will usually pay more buying from one of the many stores in Manhattan. Its one of the most expensive cities in the world. They pass on the high costs of their overhead to us, the consumers. You might get a good deal but odds are against it. Stay off the Island for best deals.
Myself, I got a great deal on my new Submriner, in fact a better discount than what I was offered elsewhere, and was treated great by the staff at Tourneau(LI,NY). |

Best to just buy one from Tourneu or any AD that has used ones.
Go in, try one he likes, pay and go. So what if it is a thousand more? Can you imagine he buys through your TRF recommendations and finds that the watch needs a service or something broke in a month and he has no recourse. It will be always your fault. I certainly would not want to be in that situation. |

Buying from a TRF member is sight unseen.
No selection of fine watches. If a TRF member sells a watch for $6K, won't it be a steal to pay $7K at Tourneu? Buying from Tourneu you get: 1)Selection 2)Try on 5 to 10 watches and get the feel and look 3)One Year Warranty And at the end of the day there is NO Blame Game. The more experience members will buy here knowing what they want. For a newbie sometimes it is a good idea to go the AD route. |

If you buy a pre-owned watch from Tourneau, you will get a 2 year warranty.
It used to be 1 year but sometime last year they doubled the length of warranty. |
