Hi Guys I’m Back

Hi Guys I’m Back, I’ve been gone for a few years but I picked up a used Stainless steel Sub from my original AD a few weeks ago. I know…. I know pictures. I will honest. I’m sure this is somewhere on this site, and I have looked but can’t find it. I HAD a 2002 SS Sub but sold it in 08. Now I have a 08 SS Sub. My questions are. When did they start writing Rolex on the inner ring, and is there still a laser etched crown on the crystal? If there is any other differences please let me know. Thanks in advance, Jake.

It was about 2004 that they started doing the rehaut engraving on most their models

Jake, they put the serial number too on the inner ring.
I think it's at the 6 o'clock side.

Congrats. I think the RolexRolex in the inner ring was added around 2006?

Engraved inner chapter ring started as early as F serial #'s, with most having it on Z serial #'s. Laser etching on the crown is still there with the exception of replacement crystals in some cases. Those I believe I remember reading may have an R on them instead. Someone here on the forum confirm my thought on that?

Right,
But not all Z's have the engraving, I have a 2007 Z sub with no engraving, but if I had waited three months I would have the engraving.

I believe we are both in agreement that not all Z serial #'s have the engraved inner chapter ring.

I believe they have an "S" sideways in the oval at the bottom of the coronet. My understanding is that it represents that it is a "service" crystal.

You are correct. It does say "S" on the crystal for replacement service crystal.

actually that was really only on Gold/Platinum models. then it was TT then in 07 or Z serials we started seeing mostly engraved SS models even though there are a few earlier. M serial onwards all have it except the sea dweller.

OP congrats and welcome back
