Milgauss 50th Ann or GMT II

Hello all. I waltzed into the Rolex "flagship" store at SC Plaza in Costa Mesa to try on a GMT II I hope to get in Feb for my 50th bday. Anyway, I asked the nice sales guy to show me the GmT. He automatically takes me to a 50th Ann Milgauss & tells me that this is the watch I "need" to get as this milgauss will be "worth its weight in gold in the future".

He gave me a quick history and the fact that they will probably not get many more of these in the future, while the GMT will be around or a while. Sticker on the Milgauss was $7600' GMT $7900. He went on to tell me there was really no choice here. Whatever...

I'm still leaning toward GMT, I like the date and the ceramic bezel so It is still my next Rolex.

What do you think of the salesmans tactic? the Milgauss is less expensive, so no incentive to steer me there...just curious about your thoughts. Was he giving me the goods?

ps.
he also had the newest rose gold Rolex Daytona with the black strap...a really beauty, if I had $28k, I'd buy it.

Buy what you like not what the salesperson wants to sell you. There is no question he has a reason for steering you in one direction. Go with your gut...

At $7600, you're paying nearly the Milgauss's entire weight in gold today (86% of its weight to be precise).

Does it really matter what his motives are? Get the one you want.

Not sure why he was pushing you toward the Milgauss. But from my own experience, it was nearly impossible to find a brand new GV a few months ago from NYC ADs and many were asking for over retail. GMTs are in higher supply but still great watches.

At the end of the day, get the one that speaks to you because you will have to wear it. That said, give the GV a shot. I grow more enamored with mine every day.

This guy's behavior really surprises me. I'm quite familiar with the staff at the store in SCP and I've never experienced anything like this. Go with the watch YOU like!
