Caution to bracelet changers!

Seeing all the photos of various watches modified with leather and rubber straps inspired me to do the same recently. While the springbar removal and reinstallation process wasn't too bad with a nice springbar tool, anyone attempting removal and reinstallation of new Rolex metal bracelets should be careful of the SHARPNESS of the bracelet edge that goes next to the watch case.

Yikes! It is sharp!

I wasn't anticipating that at all and ended up taking some good slices on my finger tips taking it off and putting it back on. Are all new rolex bracelets that sharp?

With all the dicussion of bracelet removal, I have never seen this issue discussed...... or am I just (un)lucky to have a sharp one or a highly unskilled watchman. If it matters, it was a brand new SubC.

Anyway, for those of you with new Rolexes, be careful out there.

With practice and holding the head correctly you won't come in contact with the edges. Video
Of course it's even easier with lug holes!

I've never had a problem with it. But the lug hole cases are 10x easier.

You're doing it wrong - the video is good.

As is Jocke's Bracelet Removal - Post No 13 in the simply excellent 'Tools' Amateur Watchmaker' Thread here:

The more reason to have multiple watches....some on straps, some on bracelets.
Now that I am aware of the health hazards, I will make sure I buy more watches!

What is the correct spring bar tool for bracelet removal on a Rolex without lug holes?
