How often do Rolex put there prices up? when was the last raise ? Every time I look at getting a new sub it seems that it costs a substantial lot more then before

Check out the USD / CHF exchange rates over the last few years it explains a big chunk of the price rise in USD terms

Here's a history of price increases.

The last one was in May of this year.

You can't trust an AD to predict price increases, because they are as clueless as the rest of us.

However, according to the chart I posted above, history is certainly on the side of an increase in the Spring.

Depends on location. Canadian prices are usually set in October but this year I don't believe there was a change yet. Eg subc is still the same price as October 2010. I believe a lot has to do with currency rates. And don't forget places like England where the vat has risen 2-3 times fairly recently and that has nothing to do with any increase from rolex.

So this might get me a kick in the pants from some but...

Does everyone think that the new Sub Date worth $8,000 USD?

Take advantage of foreign sales, I saved a substantial amount of money just by picking up my sub in Europe and cashing in my VAT tax. These price hikes though are nuts...whoever said "now is the time to buy" is totally right!

Yes...'cause god knows 5 years from now I won't be able to pick one up for $8K. There are not a lot of things I can think of that I can buy today for $8K, enjoy every day, and then sale down the road for break even (if not to make a few bucks)...and because of that, I would say it's worth every penny of $8K.

We bitch because Rolex constantly increases prices, and then in the next breathe brag about how Rolex's are such a solid watch to buy because they are such a great currency...part of that 'great currency' equation is via the fact Rolex constantly increases their prices. We can't always have that proverbial cake and eat it too.

No KITP - but here's a perspective, if Sub price rose like Gas has over the past 3 years, then it be $14,000 USD

Oct, '08 Gas Avg Retail: $1.61
Today: $3.30
Source Data

Oct, '08 Sub MSRP: $7,250
Today: $8,000
Source Data

Yeah it sounds expensive but just saying'

I hear ya...just giving my opinion. In the end, we all know regardless of price (and regardless of item), ANYTHING is "worth"what others will pay for it.

I personally wouldn't dream of spending $200K for some 35'+ RV...but I know there are tons of families that do and love it and therefore I guess those RVs are very much worth $200K.

According to another recent thread on a new US Price List, it just happened. Me not sure they were increases as much as adjustments for dollar exchange rates.

But prices in your country may change at different times.

Precious metals, unstable currencies, Asian demand, and labor costs (a good watch maker is expensive), are dictating price increases during these turbulent times.

And don't forget - the two brands where discounts are difficult or impossible to receive (except from TRF sellers), i.e. Rolex and Patek, hold their long term value much better than the majority of other watch brands.

Rolex has proven over the years they are a good investment, regardless of rising prices.

Exactly! The only people who know when Rolex will increase prices is Rolex, period. They keep that a tight secret until they shoot out the new price sheets. Any AD who says they "know" when the next one will hit, is just working you for a sale. (Now there maybe be 0.05% out there who actually have a Rolex snitch with that info, but it's been my experience otherwise everytime). That being said I wouldn't be shocked if late February or early March, but that's just me prognosticating.

If only Rolex were a publicly traded company I wouldn`t hesitate to buy their shares.

Buying shares is investing, buying the product is consumption.

Never have I heard of any kind of investment professional recommend the purchase of consumer products as an investment, such advice would be unethical because it belongs under the heading of speculative and high risk.
