16800 with a Laser Etched Coronet?!

Hi guys. Very strange but yes, it IS there at the 6 position. However it does not have the "S" service crystal. What can this mean? Would Rolex service a watch and use a non-service crystal? What is also strange is that they left the original dead tritium dial and insert.

Hmm. My first instinct was going to say it had to be a service crystal. My second instinct is that maybe you cannot see the "S" in the bottom of the crown logo....

Or it was taken off of a different watch?

If I could take a picture of it I would show you. I swear I've lit it up with an led torch and used both ends of my 10x and 15x loupe on it and the "S" is just not there - It is NOT a service crystal.

Has been this way for a couple of years...

That's a very good sign. Thanks a lot for that. Maybe the previous owner stipulated that the tritium be left alone?

..

That would explain why the replacement sapphire of my root-beer doesn't have the 'S' LEC

I asked RSC about this after its return, they said only watches that originally had the LEC get the 'S' replacement. I thought it was nonsense

If anyone is wondering I didn't receive any documentation with the watch, only a box (I got the impression the backroom of the shop is full of Rolex boxes to package with the watches) and a printed sheet with the serial number, date and confirmation that the watch has not been reported stolen. Oh and an anchor was thrown in. A Seadweller one!
