In 1969 I saved 500 dollars (Like George Best - I gave up sex and drinking for 20 minutes..lol)
I bought 250 dollars worth of GM stock and a 6239 Rolex chronograph because I liked the three little "thingies" there on the side. Today 40 years later My GM stock is worthless But... My Ref: 6239 Rolex is worth 28.000. So..buy Rolex sport models...the only retirement fund you can wear... |

Curious to know after 2 years if the general TRF consensus is still that the SS Daytonas hold value best.. thoughts and opinions?

What about the Deepsea? It is unique in the Rolex line-up. Keep in mind that when the Daytona were first released. They were not popular as well...

If we were on the TV programme " Who wants to be a Millionaire " and we asked the audience, judging from the replies on this topic, the answer would obviously be.............. DAYTONA

Yeah, definitely a nice, well-purchased pre-owned Sub Date or Daytona will hold its value the best... or any of the sport line...

One thing I noticed for the SS SubC is that its grey/pre-owned price has not increase since the start of the year. while other model's grey/pre-owned price has increased with each Rolex price increase. Why is that?

I have been a Rolex owner in one shape or another since 1990 and iv always found Subs and all steel sports versions go up in value over a relatively short period, although I do feel the current sports range a little over supplied in the AD's so maybe it will take a bit longer these days

That's interesting. Perhaps they're more common in the pre-owned segment thus sellers must price competitively to move.(?)

No brainer........SS Sub I only say this because it's less expensive than the Daytona so it will play to w ider group and keep the prices and the watch in demand

Actually any Rolex that you did not bought it at retail or above retail. Just buy it preowned :) |
