The ULTIMATE watch

The Rolex 118206 SD Platinum Day Date (priced between $ 45,000.00 - $ 60,000.00) is my grail watch, meant to be passed on from generation to generation.

I love everything about it from the diamond hour markers to the outer tool ring and smooth bezel. The only thing I would change is the dial:
I would like it to be meteorite with the diamond hour markers and the outer tool ring.

Amazing right?

Yes, it is amazing, but I wouldn't call it the "ultimate watch" if there is something you would change on it.

Even without the ateration it is the ultimate watch but when you look at it from a distance the untrained eye sees nothing special just a 'steel-like' watch but a meteorite dial changes its appearence completely.

in that case it would be the penultimate watch.
Agreed: meteorite dial or blue, but if you are going to spend that kind of money get meteorite.

Although from the tone of Platinum in this picture I'm wondering if a Glacier dial wouldn't add a better contrast?

Of course either dials would look amazing on this ultimate watch!

It's a very nice looking watch. It's not something most would notice, but the person wearing the watch knows what they really have.

I should have been more specific, I meant Rolex Ice Blue, like the cover of WatchTime: Rolex Review, but I still think meteorite would be most suited. Any wrist shots?

Not my cup of tea not a fan of any precious metal watches especially with diamonds just plain old S.Steel for me and basically the same movement as in a steel DJ with a added day complication.

Nice watch but everyone has a different "Grail" watch and I bet that is not on alot of peoples lists of "must haves" especially the Sport watch guys.

to each his own and hope you get it and are happy that is all that counts!

For that kind of money maybe you should take a look at some Patek Phillipes. Also a good choice to pass down through the generations.

There is just something about the commanding presence of the day of the week spelled out!

I see the Day-Date as being a watch for a certain public. It surely isn't everyone's grail but boy do its fans love it!

Very nice indeed, but it's not quite the 41mm real life version of the watch in the OP's post, as that one is platinum, while the one in your post is white gold.

Great watch to own but not a grail watch by my definition.

Not for me, personally. At that price I could think of some alternatives from other houses that might make better heirlooms. I would feel I was putting a disproportionate amount of money into the case and dial than in the movement.
But when a watch sings to you, it sings! Start saving!

I'd like a YG version of that with a meteorite dial.

probably more so when encrusting it with stones that are just for so, IMO. I suppose you could get his and hers WG or YG for the Pt price.

Whilst it's not what the OP was after this is very sharp. Gotta be a certain kinda person and maybe dresser to pull of the diamonds I reckon.
Cool.

The beauty of this watch is the fact that only those that know what it is will appreciate it and all others will assume it`s just another stainless watch.Hiding in plain sight never looked so good.

I would go with the glacier blue as opposed to the meteorite...

Just my two cents
