Mont Blanc Meisterstück Authentic?
Hello Everyone,
I am new to collecting pens and had the chance to inspect a Mont Blanc Meisterstück which I was told is approximately 20-30 years old. The clip is marked FD2545642 GERMANY. The word PIX is not located under the clip. (Which is consistant with it being an older model). I tried to do a "glow test" by shining a strong light through the pen and did get a bit of a result (see photos) Based on my limited knowledge and the amount of research I have done, I believe it to be authentic. There is no box or paper work included. Please post your thoughts. Thanks |

Looks authentic Burgundy classic ballpen.
However, it's well used - look at the scratch reflections on the last photo. With a serial number it should be post 1991 and I would expect "GERMANY" instead of "W GERMANY" so that part is correct. There is not much collector value on this pen - lots of them made. This model has been discontinued for like 5-6 years already it's quite difficult to find new or NOS. The important bit to look out for is whether there is any brassing on the metal parts, and from the photos I can't say one way or another. |

Can't you send these back to MB for servicing and they make it look brand new?
Kind of like how you send your watch in for service? |

Looks authentic to me. I gave one exactly like that one to my mother about maybe 15 years ago.

Yes you can, but the cost would be like $70-100 (excluding parts!) and that's about what this pen is worth, so unless the pen has sentimental value, it's not worth it to get it "refreshed".

Spot on! I have the exact pen and took it to BH MB and asked them to make it look new. They replaced the barrel instead for a flat rate of 70.00.

Well you got it cheap Erwin. That 70 bucks flat rate is for USA repairs only. In Australia, I replaced the clip on a 144 ballpen and it costed me $135. Another time the piston in my 146 silver barley (old style) got broken and costed me $235 to repair!

Did I mention that they polished my other pens as well and served me coffee while waiting? I love BH Montblanc!
