New Fountain Pen Question
New to fountain pens, I ordered a Lamy Safari w/ converter and fine nib. I thought it was a good starter pen to try out.
Is there any recommended break in procedure for a new FP? Filling the ink w/ converter will be new as well. I found a tutorial online to help out. |

Lamy safari is pretty much in-destructible and well made so you can just use it right away.
Just stay away from Noodler Bay State Blue ink, I've heard of stories that this ink melted the feed on a Lamy. |

With a converter just remember you fill it by turning it clock-wise. Use a light touch when you go to write with a fountain pen and let it glide across the paper.....

Pretty much what 2careless and Leo said....I carry a Lamy Safari XF in my work bag as a backup every day....and use it as my primary often.
I didn't have to break mine in, but if it's not a smooth writer check the forum, there are some suggestions to try.

I have a Lamy Al-Star as a daily writer (same basic pen with aluminum barrel). Your new Safari will likely outlast you and needs no break in, as mentioned. I found the fine nib to be a bit scratchy, so I moved up to a medium when the paper bag trick didn't provide enough of an improvement. That's the beauty of the Lamy design though; want to change a nib? Stick a small piece of scotch tape to it, pull it off, and slap on another. A 10 second job.

First time at filling pen with converter and hopefully it gets easier the next time. Lets just say I'm glad I wore the latex gloves.
