I think they are similar to a "flea market" in the USA.

We don't have fleas in the UK.

a boot is the same as a car trunk so he was at a car trunk sale aka garage sale.

Well, let's say that you did okay under all circumstances

Nice joke!

It is from an auction catalogue ("Antiquorum").

"Boot" = British English for American "Trunk".

So a car boot sale is a sort of flea market where people would sell their personal belongs stored in the trunk of their car.

Just don't purchase any meat from a trunk sale. I've read stories... (shiver)

Reference 4113, split second chronograph, 17 jewels, 43 mm, Valjoux caliber 55 from around 1943, only 15 made.

My guess they would do 200 000 dollars at auction lol.

My car has a boot! The stealerships and even the owner's manual refer to it as a boot. Likewise, the sheet metal you have to open to check the oil is the "bonnet". My car even has the optional "bonnet stripes". Check the avatar...

Welshie, since it's now even more used than it was before, I'll give you US$200 for that worn out and outdated watch just because I hate to see a fellow TRF Member get ripped off so badly.

What?

You lot have no faith. Here's a wrist shot to prove it.

Now don't you feel bad for not believing me?

Next up I've got my eye on a Comex for £9.99.
