Parachrom Blu Hairspring

I just bought an Explorer 114270 (K Ser#) & love it's simplicity & design.
Though it's in teriffic condition, neither dealer nor I know if its been serviced.
Of course, I'm going to assume it hasen't & plan to send it f/svc next few
weeks. Can I 'upgrade' to Parachrom Blu Mainspring? I plan to
replace mainspring during svc anyway. My independant says he can get
OE Rolex parts from his "sources"

Rolex is like the Masons; I'm surprised there isn't a secret handshake.

Anyway, 'seems Parachrom Blu is a worthy upgrade; if parts can be had.
Is it doable--adding a Parachrom Blu to a 3130 movement? Any Part#
info I should be aware of? Thanks!

the short answer is no, you cannot change the hairspring only, you need a whole new balance as they are matched, my other question is why ??, there is no real siginificant difference you will notice, the older hairsprings are anti magnetic also, so unless you work in high magnetic field you wont notice any difference, and if you do you probably need a milgauss model anyway.

Thanks! I was told that since/if my 114270 hasn't been serviced, std procedure is to treat it to a new mainspring. It has been 10+yrs since mfgr, and from what I know from springs, they do age--regardless of use. Since I'm gonna 'spring' for a new one anyway, ($55 for and OE Rolex part), I thought getting a Parachrom one would be worthwhile.

As for being matched with the balance, how is that done during std svc, when Rolex (or a trained independant) replaces the hairspring?

Call Rolex with the serial numbers. They will tell you over the phone if it has been serviced.

Well you seem to be confusing the balance hairspring with the mainspring to completely different parts. The mainspring is what gives power to your watch the balance wheel or occilator is what runs and regulates your watch. I don't believe you can swap the balance wheels on that movement with the more modern parachrome it may be possible but so far I haven't seen it done. Rikki

If your watch is running well and has a good power reserve on a full manual wind of around 40 crown turns clockwise and runs for 40-48 hours off wrist.Cannot see any point in changing the main spring wait till service time then if its needed it will be replaced them.The main springs are often changed at service its quite a low cost item and if changed at service will incur no extra labour costs.Dont read too much into the Parachrom would doubt if the average person in reallity would notice any or very very very little difference over the Nivarox ones used for the past 30 plus years. As far as I know its not possible to replace just the hairspring on its own. As the balance wheel and hairspring are married/adjusted/vibrated to suit each other.

If I recall correctly, the para chrome balance complete is exchange only, so no, you can't have a para chrome hairspring unless the watch started its life with one. Also I agree with what others have said, you will not notice any performance difference with the new hairspring material.

I think i ever saw a Youtude Video which is not anti magnetic, anyone can clarify?

You will not notice any difference in performance between a normal hairspring and a Parachrom one.
The standard hairsprings are just as amagnetic as the new ones. Both can still be magnetised under very high magnetic fields. Parachrom is not completely amagnetic.
The mainspring is replaced at every service as it is a low cost part and it will guarantee good and even power over the following years

Well if you don't wear your watch dial down with the case back off,with a dirty great magnet dangling over the hairspring.Then I would doubt in the real world would anyone find any real advantage no matter what hairspring was in the case.
