How about the Olympus OM-D

Since we've been on new cameras lately ... have you seen the new Oly OM-D?

The landscape is very confusing now ... one company comes with a cool concept (X100 and the rest are on top like flies copying it right away) ... I think I still want a NEX-7 (refreshing of Sony to stick to its own design ethos).

I'd love a D800 but I can't justify the price tag for my usage (plus I have been tired of lugging my d300 around lately).

What do you guys think about this one and the trend?

This camera was only introduced yesterday, I do believe, and it claims to be the first mirrorless camera to be competitive with dSLRS.

I haven't had much of a chance to check it out.

There is so much coming out now that it make my head swim.

For better or worse I'm committed Nikon, if for no other reason than the investment in glass.

Yeah ... i am thinking i might just keep my d300, sell the 18-200 and buy the 105 f2.8...that and and my 35 1.8 and 50 1.4 is really all i need. I am not much of a wide angle shooter.

Hi Neef,

Back in the '70's I distributed and sold Olympus microscopes.
In independant testing the resolution of Olympus plan acromat lenses at x400 and x1000 were equal or better than Zeiss lenses.
They are nice products.

My Sony A55 is a dSLT. Isn't that a 'mirrorless camera'?

If you've got a lot of Nikon glass also consider the Nikon 1 series.
With the FT1 convertor you can use your F-mount CPU lenses on the Nikon 1 cameras and you get 2.7x crop. i.e. your 200mm becomes 540mm with no loss of F/stop.
The DR of the Nikon 1 is not as good as say D7000 or higher but it's small enough to be nearly pocketable. I bought the Nikon J1 with 10mm pancake lens and it's my daily walkabout camera now.
Still when D800 is general available I'll get it. been waiting to go Full frame for eons...

Nope, the A55 has a mirror.

good point, but that tiny sensor (stellar reviews that it has though).

Loving my NEX-5N, but going to be replacing my old EOS-5D with a D800. The Sony stuff can produce great output but not as reliably (focus being my main gripe).

u4/3 is just too small a sensor even though the old throwback body is neat on the OM-D.
