Am I? Or am I not?

Allergic to gold, that is. Or perhaps I should say copper. Sometimes when I wear my YG blue sub, my wrist itches or slightly burns. Sometimes I see red marks where the bracelet is, but Jessica says it's just pressure marks from the bracelet. Sometimes I can wear the watch for hours without any affects.

I've never heard of anybody being allergic to gold (it is known, for me at least, to be a hypoallergenic metal). I would agree with the "pressure marks" argument given by this lady Jessica (your wife perhaps?).

I'm not a scientist or an allergist but I guess you could be allergic to the composition of a gold watch.....so maybe switching to stainless steel will work for you!!!

My wife is allergic to gold; actually, I believe it's an allergy to one or more of the alloys that are mixed with the gold (i.e., copper for YG and nickel for WG). She can wear only SS or Platinum. The allergist says this is fairly common. The engagement ring and wedding band are both Platinum and the new Lady Datejust I bought for her is SS.

Have you loosened bracelet? Will you get an allergy check?
Do you want to trade it for a SS sub (w/ lug holes)

The bracelet is fairly loose; I can wiggle it and make the watch slide down my wrist. I was not aware that you could get checked for this sort of thing. I wore a white gold high school class ring for years without incident, so perhaps it's all in my head. My contingency plan is to sell it for a new hulk + some cash. I hope I won't have to go that route because this watch is SO breathtaking!!

Patch testing can determine which metal you are allergic to...most commonly nickel is the culprit.

While no allergist, I am, in fact, a doctor! I would say that if there are periods where you can wear your watch for quite some time without issue, it's probably not a contact allergy to your watch. If you were allergic to some metal that was touching you, I would expect marks everywhere this metal was in contact with your body, not just some areas corresponding to the bracelet. While it's good to hear about your ability to wear your ring, it does probably have a different metal and material composition, so the YG Sub may contain an additional agent to which your body is reacting. Also, we can develop allergies over time with repeated exposures to substances, which could explain your current predicament.
Having said all that, I still think that if your reactions to your watch are sporadic, it's probably not allergy. However, if you consistently see this after you've worn your watch for a specific period of time, you may in fact have developed an allergy to something in your YG Sub.
Solution: Send it to Dino; but make sure you have him pay for shipping.

could it just be irritation from sweating or dirt in the bracelet?

or it could be due to something you ate earlier? acidic or alkaline foods?

Does not sound like any allergy. Maybe soap residue after hand wash?
