Time for a new pen? Advice? Comments?

Well, time to ask for advice from the forum. First, the background: I have a couple of nice pens, one of which sits at home (Montblanc Proust LE fountain) and another that has been my daily beater for over 14 years (Montblanc Doue Sterling Silver, Rollerball).

My daughter brought to my attention that my pen -even as it looks pretty good- has been with me for 'ages'; and asked me about switching. Here comes the questions part....

I do travel a LOT, so rollerball (somehow I do not like the feel of a ball point) is a very comfortable option; also, having a MB makes finding refills easier than with other brands.

I like the looks of the Boheme Doue (black w gold cap), but I have mixed feelings about the size; any comments?

Also, if I change pens, what should I do with my current Doue? I would hate to leave it 'in the drawer'....

...or should I stick to my current?

As always, thank you for your comments!

Since you travel and if by plane it's best not to travel with a fountain pen as they can leak unless you keep it empty for plane travel and carry some ink separate. Also I do not like using cartridges so my fountain pens use converters or are lever action and fill a reservoir. As for what to do with your current pen...why not carry and use two then it won't sit in a drawer. As for what to buy it comes down to personal choice as there are many great pens out there from many different manufacturers. Go to a pen store and check out some of the different brands. The MB Boheme Doue is a very nice pen and would be a good choice. Also check out companies such as Faber-Castell, Namiki-Pilot, Parker, Pelikan, Sailor, Sheaffer and Waterman. And there are many more companies out there so take your time and have fun "test driving".....good luck and happy hunting!!!

I was about to suggest the Masters for Meisterstuck rollerball, in white Meissen porcelain, until I saw that you travel a lot, well this pen is for pampering...
Have a look at the new MB Hitchcock pen. I quite like the size as well as the spiralling barrel pen. I just don't like a knife clip... may be you like it.

Found that pic online somewhere, and yes it does make me drool. They make it in black also.

About the Meissen pen. Apparently Meissen has difficulty making the barrel/cap in sufficient numbers that MB cannot continue to make the pen. Hence it's getting more like limited edition. Also, the black meissen outsells the white one many times and they have sold out the black ones for the past 6 months in Germany.

For me, it's either the Nikon D800 or the Meissen... which one?...
