Omega Speedmaster 376.0822 Prices
Must have been Dec 2009 - I bottled buying a Omega Speedmaster 376.0822 for approx $5500. Watch was in excellent condition\ still got the sellers pic's archived off. Xmas\ contract was due up in 4 weeks - just totally the wrong time for me. 4 weeks later I get the extension ...... !!!
Anyway - just been on another forum & saw one pop up for sale - $9500 !!! wooooooow ........ ! Are these watches appreciating that fast or is seller asking way to much. I know a few guys on here bought recently so appreciate some feedback (& pictures of course of your grails ......) |

I wouldn't pay $9500 even if it is the Grail.... But who knows...you only need one buyer who's willing to pay the price. I think it's a bit nuts when you can buy a mk 4.5 for less than $2k which offers the same cal 1045 in a different, and arguably more unique case.

Really not a big fan of these, I know Chuck had a spiritual connection to the Lemania 5100 and it meant a lot to him because of that, but these things aren't anywhere near rare enough to justify the money they're being scalped for at present.

The movement is not rare but I believe the scarcity and legend make people go wild for them. I would buy one if it was more reasonable but I'd rather have a hulk rolex for the price of that.

A price is just that, does not mean it will sell for even close to that

Thing is there are likely to be 1000-2000 of them floating around and as far as anyone knows they were just made because some european dealers wanted a day-date with 24H time. There are scores of dealer requested Italian and Japanese market special speedmaster models made in far smaller quantities.
Its not like a 5510 Submariner where the number out there is tiny and many are likely gone or damaged, the only reason we haven't seen more of them pop up is that they're just not old, the original owners still have the things and probably have no idea that the Speedmaster auto they've been wearing is worth anything. Give it another decade or two and the number for sale will go up considerably as soon as those '87 buyers start dropping dead and/or passing them on to relatives.

Only speedy fanatics are willing to spend that much for that particular model. The prices have definitely increased quite a bit since Maddox's "grail" suffix was attached to it. As well as the 1450 bracelet but I don't particularly think is worth the asking price.
