"SWISS" at six o clock position on dial
I have a 1971-1972 Datejust 1601. At the bottom of the dial is the word SWISS in capital letters centered below the 6 stick marker. I have been told it should be T SWISS T. My jeweler says my watch is original. My dial also has what is known as "coffin" markers at 6 and 9. They are wider than the others. Could it have been as described or is it set instone by year of manufacture.

So does anyone recall when the T SWISS T markings began? I have an '80's vintage with that on it. And there was a period when they used SWISS <25 too.

Up till 1960 Rolex used the word SWISS then dials were Radioactive Radium, then from around early 1960s on Rolex used T.Swiss.T less than 277 MBq (7.5mCi) and Swiss <T25 less than925 MBq (25mCi)on there dials depending on how much radioactivity they had used from 1960 till mid/late 1998.Then back to Swiss only dials lume change to Luminovor from 1998 to 2000, then after 2000 back to Swiss Made with Superluminovor. Now this is not on all dials like say the DJ some from the 1970s had plain Swiss and T Swiss Made T and<T25 depending on type of dial .

I was also rude by not introducing myself. My name is Rob. I am a retired commercial pilot. I have the GMT Master 1675 I bought new in 1982 with all the boxes and paperwork. Funny, by serial number it is a 1977 model and the authorized Rolex dealer had it for 5 years! |

Wouldnt T Swiss T mean it has tritium? In this case, maybe it has no lume on hands/dial?

Interesting thread. I have a TT DJ vintage '80s as well and I have the T SWISS T on my dial. So, do we know what the T T is all about?
