TT Blue Dials
Guys
I was looking on the forum pic gallery and one of our members has a newer lighter blue dial (BlueSub71) which was bought at the same time the dials changed. Compare this to the darker dial pics of my sub which follows. I think you will get the idea of the differing colors. I have taken my pics from many angles but still get the same deep blue hue, the camera doesnt do it justice, with the naked eye, my sub dial is almost purplish. The new TT Blue subs are lighter blue. The difference is more marked if you look at both dials with the naked eye. I guess it doesnt make a difference, just a matetr of preference, but wonder why there is a difference in blue dials?? ceramic bezel coming out or maybe its hard to control the colour on the production line of the dials and could be a batch?? In fact, the latest batch of TT Blues that ia have seen (my AD had 3 new ones come in) were even more lighter then the first pic dial. Last edited by sub2004; 23 September 2007 at 09:19 AM.. Well, IMHO the differences in the hue of the blue have nothing to do with a ceramic bezel that might come on the Sub Date.
Rolex has had much trouble getting colours bonded to the current ceramic bezel already since Rolex couldn't bond the red and blue of a coming Pepsi ceramic bezel. It is said that Rolex had finally managed to do so, but it would come before next year. Rolex might have got the hang of making and all-blue bezel in ceramic but frankly I don't think so. The colour variations are more likely just the result of light conditions since the blue changes its looks according to which light you hold it in. Also, some of the OLD blue dial of TT Sub simply fade in the sun. Yes, I do know that those in the pics are new ones, but still the blue seems proned to change by time. ![]()

Great Info Bo as always and i think the camera and lighting may have something to do with the differences in colour

Ah BlueBull, thanks for supporting me on this one.
Yep now that i think of it, the dial is "powdery blue". Interesting. Cheers |
